I went out today and sighted in my .45-70 handi with the new 2.5x intermediate eye relief shotgun scope mounted far enough forward to work the hammer.

After I got to point of aim,the 325gr gc's made one 1 1/4" hole at 50 yds, using 25 gr  4198. I shall try the 400 and 515 gc's next time to see how well they do and how close to this poa.

Also tried my 788 ,243 , 4x with tapered post and horizontal hair, with a 90 gr gc, 14gr 4227 gave 1575fps, 16gr gave 1800fps, both shot 1/4" at 25 yds for 5 shots.

Then 4198, 24gr, 2300fps, 3/8" at 25 yds and 26gr, 2550 fps., did not hit the paper, may be over the strength of the alloy, shall try again with water dropped or heat treated bullets.

80gr Speer spitzer 4064, 35gr 2910fps, 3/8" at 25 yds37gr, 3030fps, 1/4" at 25yds.

Then 4831sc, 45gr, 2850fps, 1/4" at 25 yds and 46gr, 2960fps, 3/8" at 25 yds.

I am just starting in on the .243 after about 10 year layoff, shall up it some, but I do not like to hotrod any weapon, I find I have better accuracy at 80-90 % of maximun loads.

Velocities are average of 3 shots, rounded off to nearest 10.
