My dad brought out his 28 gauge muzzleloading shot gun today and was wondering what to use for a load of powder FFg I'd assume @ about 50gr??? Thee are no manufactur's name so we hav no idea of the make of this scatter gun There are some proof marks but I can not tell ya what they mean.

If I remember correctly, Dixie Gun Works imported a bunch of single shot 28 bore percussion shotguns many years ago. they were listed in their catalog for a long time.
I would guess 45 to 55 grains of FFg anbd 5/8 tp 3/4 ounce of shot would be a resonable starting load. You can get overpowder, cushion, and overshot wads for muzzleloading shotguns at Track of the Wolf, Good folks to do business with. http://www.trackofthewolf.com/Index.aspx
