I used to work for a place that did a LOT of surface grinding. I'm so damn cheap I would knock out the centers of the worn out grinding wheels which were cast of Lead, then bored to run true. I got enough to keep my .45-70 and my 2 .458's fed with 552 Gr. Lyman slugs for an entire winter! As I said, I don't waste a thing! billt

TG;
A Handi Rifle, 22" barrel, with a 2.5x shotgun scope mounted far enough forward to let me reach the hammer without an extension.
I figured if the scope was good for a 3 1/2" 12ga, a .45-70 would not hurt it.
So far, only 1180fps with the 515gr, but I am moving up from trapdoor loads to Marlin loads so it should pick up some.
Billt;
I used to collect those centers and make clamp on sinkers by beating them out and then cutting to weight I wanted.
A poster on Cast Boolits reported having poor results with Babbitt metal, of course, he did not say if it was lead or tin based and what other metals were in the alloy.
I would use it to see how it does, but likely would not try mixing it in any of my good mixes without starting with a very small batch and seeing what happens.

Quig;
The bar in your picture is auto body solder, great source of tin for alloying.
I hope the 320, 400 and 515 get a chance at a hog this year, I am trying to sell myself to some farmers and ranchers as a Pest Control person, no charge, just 1/2 the hogs.
May have a real source of sausage material.

Hey Quig..I`d bet money on that even at super slow velocity.515 GR...Thats a lot of energy when it hits meat...
Don, make sure and shoot him behind the shoulders.Lots of good sausage grinding meat on them shoulders and them little ones are great for using the shoulders smoked on the pit....

My favorite size is under 100lbs, a quarter will just fit on a good pit, about 6 hours with mesquite and a little hickory and plenty of black pepper rubbed in .
Oh, the 515 at 1180fps gives 1590fp at muzzle.

I was doing some work for a guy in Georgia that has over 3000 acres that he uses as a private hunting preserve. He has 3 full time employees to keep it up. There are about 35 MILES of road inside the preserve.
We were talking about how great it was to have this nice a place and he mentioned that he had a hog problem that summer. The feral hogs were getting into the feeder areas (they feed the deer to promote HUGE bucks) and eating up all the feed. They trapped and hauled out over 750 hogs! And thats over about a 5 month period.
He shot a hog that evening and gave it to me. I skinned it (2 1/2 hours of hard work) and then cut it up with my Saws All and a long blade. It really smokes nice. 6 hours is nice, but 10-12 is better if you have the time. I use pecan wood, and 50-50 water/vinegar mix in the pan over the fire. My rub is brown sugar, onion powder, garlic powder, seasoned salt and black pepper.
My guy was good enough to shoot the hog thru the front of the ribs. Heart and lungs were trashed, and not much damage to the ribs.

Hey Mickey.I got to handle a real 43 Spanish rolling block today in the backroom of a gunsmiths shop...It was sweet!!! He showed me some brass for it too.Very strange looking tapered cartridge..Looks like a big 22Hornet without a shoulder..
