Anyone using this for cartridges? Have had moderate success using this in a 40-70 RollingBlock(not saying much, cause the rifle has never really shot a good group), she did a 3" off-hand 100yard 5-shot.
Just wondering if anyone has loaded this powder into brass and had better success with it? Anyone?

Nasty crap they make that Elephant powder from. Must be the stuff falling out the back of the elephant they put in the can.
Give what's left of the can to some sucker that don't know any better (that's what I did) and get some Goex Cartridge or some of their 3f Express powder.

This statement is probably very true!
When loading, sometimes you just have to try everything under the sun. Happened to come across a 8lb'er of this FFg powder for a very reasonable price ($5.00). What the heck, as a experimneter of emptying cartridges, I tried....but I'll probably just use the rest of it for a "cannon"?

Selecting a brand of Black Powder is like picking the most accurate bullet for your 22 rimfire. You have to get all the brands you can find and experiment till you find the best one.
I have shot a lot of Elephant brand, but only in cap & ball revolvers. It shot quite well in them, 1860 New Model Army 44, 2nd Model Dragoon 44, Remington New Army 44, Navy 36, 1849 Baby Dragoon 31, all reproductions.
