Anyone know of a good shooter for a vintage model 94 Winchester ?I have researched it quite a bit and want to use a 180 grain bullet in this 40 year old Winchester lever gun.

RCBS and SAECO both catalog a 180 grain flatnose bullet, either would be a good place to start. Lee catalogs a 180 grain round nose as well.
We tried to warn you about casting, didn't we? You seem to be getting the disease!

I may be chiming in a bit late, but here goes anyway. I use the Lee C309-170F in my ’94 to great success. Poured from straight wheel weight it goes 180gr lubed and checked. Water dropped with the pot about 675 to 700F it tests BHN 21. I use a charge of 27.5gr Reloader 7 for 2050fps. This load is perfectly safe in my gun, but it may not be in yours. (disclaimer) I get good groups. I’m not that good with iron sight rifles, so I can’t say how good the load will shoot. My groups were about 3" at 100 yd. And the bead covers 7". It shoots better than I can see. IMHO no need to use Lino. No leading yet. In fact, I have over 100 rounds without cleaning right now.
P.S. Lee moulds are CHEAP and that’s a good thing!!!
Hope this helps you in your quest!!!

I like the Lee 170 grain as well, but TG was aking about 180s, so I didn't mention it! Guess I should have.
I cast mine from WW with enough 95/5 added to make it flow well, never bothered with water quenching. Lately I've been loading it over IMR-4198. Accurate in a '94 Winchester trapper, and a Savage 340.
I've got molds from RCBS, Lyaman, SAECO, and others, but it is hard to beat Lee for price and ease of use. I don't seem to be hamhanded enough to smash them as others seem to do.

I've got a Lee 150 FP gas check double mold. I fired some 30 year old reloads with them and WW 760 and got a 7/16 in 3 shot group with the velocity @ 1955, 1951 and a954. Pretty good SD for old ammo improperly stored.
Cast from WW and lubed with spray on graphite.

Here is another vote for the LEE 170 grain FP; I have had good luck with that bullet and 27.0 grains IMR 3031.
IIRC, one of the Lyman manuals had data for a 180 grain bullet in .30.30.....my only warning would be to make sure that the gun can function with the bullet crimped in place. I tried early in my shooting career to load a 180 grn jacketed round nose into a .30/30 and the overall length was too long; the result was a jammed cartridge!

I second that. I have found, every now and then, some bullets will ingrave at chambering.
