I'm looking to start casting bullets for my 22 Hornet.
I would like something along the lines of the Lyman #225107 mould, but it seems these have been scarce for some time. Are custom mould options that would provide something similar available?
I would also like to experiment with hollowpointing using the Forster Universal Hollowpointer and am curious what sort of success others have had using this with 22 caliber cast bullets.

If ever there was a cartridge made for the lead projectile, it's the Hornet! Not much can be expected from the cartridge in most applications, but it can be done at ranges within limits of the cartridge.
I had a supply of lead gas checked 43gr(including the weight of the GC), with a full load of H-110 (10.4gr), was quite a zipper{it would leave the Contender at 2150-ish feet per second}. Accuracy was in the 1.5" range at 50 yards, but the barrel was only 8"....... Ran out of these projectiles, and my brother stopped casting them....sold all his stuff, great. Switched to the 45gr Sierra's and never looked for another.

The only experience I have is the 58 grain gas check Lyman in a 22-250. Not really suitable for the 22-250.

I did a bit of fishing around and it looks like NEI will make up some molds with weights that are appropriate for the Hornet.

Hey,wblodget, If you want an inexpensive mould for the 22,go to Midsouth and check out their 22 Bator from Lee. It casts a very nice little bullet that I think would be great in the hornet.Cheaper, lighter, and easier to use also. My 2 cents worth. leadburner
