Weather is finally cooling off a bit, high today was about 92 F. Even with the AC, the shop gets too hot for casting in the summer. Was able to drag out the pot and convert some ingots to bullets.

Cast a few hundred 200 grain .310 RN for the 7.62x51, .30/076, and .30/40 Krag, some "fat" 30s, both 185 gr and 220 for the Mns, .303s, and 7.65 Mausers, some 170 gr FN for the .30/30s, and some .324s for the 8x57 and .32/40.

Damn, it felt good.

I too fooled with casting today.I turned 40 lbs of wheel weights into small ingots. This was the first w/ws that hadnt been stored but came from an active tire shop.I noticed a much larger amount of w/ws that dont melt at normal melted lead temps.Im guessing it is the new zinc w/ws that some states are going to require soon.I think Cal. is trying to ban lead in w/ws and washington st has an upcoming ban in place. At least that is what I heard. At the end of a 40 lb bucket I had 3 lbs of these weights.I  heated one with a torch until it and the steel clip glowed but it wouldnt melt.I guess its time for me to collect all I can find.........Robin

Yep, better get 'em while you can, boys. Lead WWs are a threatened species now, soon to be endangered and then gone.
