In my casting area, I have two Lee bottom pour pots. One is a 10 pound pot and the other is a 20 pound pot. The 10 pounder, I do pure lead casting from it, such as shotgun slugs and some other bullets that need to be soft. The 20 pounder is for doing my lead alloy casting from. This works out nicely, no major cross contamination with this method. The 10 pounder was my original casting pot and has served me well for many years.
When I am cooking up wheel weights, I do that in a dutch oven and ladle the lead in ingot molds. That dutch oven can do 50 pounds at a time, and I heat it with propane. In this dutch oven I make up my alloys. I wish I could find an old Lobster Pot, I would do more bulk work. But in my part of the country, Red Lobster is about as close asI am going to get to lobsters.
What do you folks use for you casting?

for the smelting i have a old 3 gallon cast iron pot and for the bullets i use two lee's( i like wheez's idea of the 30# freon bottle tho -had thought about using a old propane bottle ( old valve -yes i know make sure it is entirely empty and flushed)i also use the turkey frier burner tho i made new and heavier legs out of angle iron for it ( the old ones wernt that great for alot of weight) i also make ignots in a old cast iron muffin pan for ww and use the rcbs's and saeco ignot molds for lino(saeco)and pure lead ( rcbs)and a cast iron corn bread pan( the lil ear of corn looking one) for solder/tin,and a lee for my using alloy ,helps me keep the alloys separated

I use a thrift store cast iron frying pan and a Coleman stove to proces bulk lead, and a Lee production pot (the older 10 pound model) for casting. Will get around to buying their 20 pounder eventually.

For casting I use a 25lb. Waage ladle pour. Turkey fryer with a cast iron pot for melting WW's or plumbers lead into ingots.
