I'm just in the process of upgrading my reloading bench from something with a small 48" x24" work top and little storage to something better.

At present  virtually everything gets cleared away after each reloading session. Below is a pic of the press on the corner of my present bench . Although its RCBS, I am not actually sure of the model? Its marked "RS" on the frame so its possibley a "Reloader Special"?

Its the only piece of equipment actually bolted down to the bench and you can see I mounted it slightly different to the more usual way as I was not sure the front of the bench was going to be substantial enough.

Since the particular photo was taken I have bought a  Rock Chucker Supream and will probably mount both on the next bench...

The big problem with this particular bench was it was not tall enough due to an oversight on my part, and it has been a pain to use because of that mistake.

My new bench is a bit bigger and has more storage space but more importantly its taller and should be more comfortable to use..it is built but I  am waiting on a swap around in the house to get room to install it. Once its installed, I would like mount a couple of kitchen units with shelves between them on the wall above it to complete the project.

In the mean time, I would be very interested to see pictures of your benches and/or reloading room...I have seen some fantastic set ups in other forums and I am sure some of them have more floor space than the whole of the cottage i live in!

Regards,

Pete

bea175,

Thats a very business like set up you have there! How big is the bench?

I am only reloading for 3 rifle calibres so i don't need a huge bench and i like the way you are getting the most out of the space available..

The press in the middle of the bench looks like a newish RC...is the one on the left an older version?

Regards,

Pete

Bilt,

Those pics look fairly organised to me! I assume your loading for handguns quite a bit?
They are pretty much banned here in the UK but I used to carry and shoot a CZ75 for a while...Some of the guys still shoot frontloaders, but most took the compensation and bought lever actions ect

What is the grey "press" towards the centre of the right hand picture?

regards,

Pete

The bench is around five feet in length. I have added more dies since this photo was taken last year. I load for a number of rifle and handgun cal's.

Pete,

The grey colored press is my Lyman 450 Lubricator Sizer for lubricating and sizing cast bullets. I do shoot a lot of different handgun calibers and have quite a few bullet molds for them. This press also seats gas checks very well on the base of the bullets. billt.

My bench is a pigstye next to you organized fellas. No WAY am I going to post a picture!

I've still got the bench I built form slightly modified NRMA plans twenty something years ago. It has served me well, but it was built to fit a space at my previous house and just doesn't have enough room for me now. I've designed a new bench to fit the rear of my workshop/garage, it reaches across the back wall, some 12 feet, and "L"s around on one side. This way I can mount all my tools. I need room for 2 Dillon 550s, a Lee turret, 2 Lyman lubersizers (one for BP lube, one for smokeless) a powder measure and a MEC shotshel press.

I hope to build it sometime this fall.

Here are a few pictures of my bench. It is in a messy state right now.I have been busy with an automotive project and haven`t been spending much time at it..But anyways here it is...

This is the business end of it where I spend most of my time..:thumbs:The other end is basically a rifle maintenance area.

Timber,  I see you've got a can of Reloader 22 sitting up front.  What were you loading it in?

Hey Pete,  I like how you mounted your press "in" the table.

I just went out to the garage and took a picture of my bench.  It's not much, but it sure gets the job done for me.    I threw it together from some scrap wood laying around, back in '97.   At the time, I needed something real small as space was at a minimum.  I've kept it and had great use from it.

You guys have some real nice benches!

Mine took a step closer to "commissioning" today as I hauled it up stairs and into position. Its still work in progress as I want to add some shelves underneath both for storage and to act as brace/struts for extra rigidity...

Gunrunner,

I just meausred my existing bench and its 48" x20" so your not the only one who's pushed for bench space...Actually, I could live with a small bench but I was running short of storage space as much as anything, plus my existing bench is just too low to work at comfortably...

I 'm hoping a few others will post pictures of their set ups too, regardless of if big or small, or  cluttered or tidy....

Regards,

Pete

Timber,  I really like what the R22 has done in my 7 Mag, and that's what's loaded in it for deer this year.  I hope that Saturday morning a buck will fall to it.   Later in the year I'll try R22 in the 270.

Carrying your bench upstairs??  Hey Pete, are you trying to get a hernia???   Reloading doesn't need to be that hard.

Gents,

Seeing as I asked to see other peoples reloading benches, I thought I'd post a pic of my newly completed one whilst its still tidy!

The top is is 3" thick and is made of an old office desk top I had from work reinforced with 2"x 6" planks underneath. Its about 66" long  by 24" deep and is a good weight on its own..

The draws were also surplus to requirements as the draw faces on one or two had been pryed off. I repaired these with a little glue and raised both units on plynths so the top is 36" from the floor.

I have fitted a couple of shelves in the cubby more to add strength than anything and these still need staining/varnishing before everything is complete.

Should I run out of space, PhaseTwo will be a couple of kitchen units fitted to the wall above with some shelves inbetween them...

Regards,

Pete

With the move and getting everything organized, it took me a while, but I think it is ready to go.

Have some lights I want to put up and then I think I am done.
