My dad uses RCBS and Redding dies.He bought me my dies for my 243Winchester and they are RCBS.He says they are good dies.
What kind of dies do all of you guys use?

I have dies from most of the avaliable vendors. Mostly RCBS, several others like Lyman, Forester, (Bonanza), Redding, and others. I've found quality to be pretty much equal. I do like the RCBS Competition Seater Dies. The "window" makes for nice concentric bullet seating. billt

for everyone who doesn`t know,scout243 is my number one hunting and fishing buddy.He is my son.He`s not real fond about sitting still or sitting long periods to load ammunition,but he sure likes to shoot it...

I have mostly Lee dies. When I first started reloading I didn't want to spend much money, in case I didn't like reloading. Lee dies are low priced and do the job. I ended up buying dies for 9mm, 38/357, 40/10mm, 44spcl/44mag, 45colt, 223 and 308.
When I bought a 22-250 about 9 or 10 years ago I decided to try a set of Redding dies. They're more expensive than Lee, but well worth the money. Since then I've bought Redding for 308 and 270. I'll probably always buy Redding for each new cartridge from now on. Maybe soon I'll get a set for my 223's.
SAVAGE!!! I thought your 243 was a Ruger.  I think you've been shooting your dad's rifle to much!  Oh well, at least we know one guy in Wisconsin who would like the signature.

I got a die from Saddlesore I`m not familiar with.One is a fl and the other a seating die for 220 Swift,One was stamped Pacific.I know that one,the one I dont recognize has a capitol C with a capitol H inside it??Any thoughts on it??Its a good looking quality made die??

I started reloading with a C&H press in 64. I wore it out. The handle fatigued and snapped at the end of the threads where it screwed into the ram. I made another out of Bud wheel wrench. The ram finally just wore out and had too much slop in it. I ran a heck of a lot of .06 through it for matches. I then used Herter's for quite sometime. Now that was heavy press. Along about the mid 80's I got arcok Chucke and it's still going, although I use my Dillon more than anything. I just got it back amonth ago or so. They to had to rebuild it from excessive use

All my reloading dies are RCBS , but I do use lee crimp dies with each caliber . I have now about 50 + set now . Covering rifle and handgun . good shooting , regards bullet

My first set ever of Hornady Dies is on the way.I ordered them Sunday night from Midway for the standard 25-06Rem.This rifle was a recent addition after I traded a 742 Woodsmaster in 30-06 for it.I just haven`t had time to get around to loading for it.I got four boxes of nickel plated 117 gr Winchester Ballistic Silvertip in the deal.Its been shooting that bullet extremely well and accurate..I think I`m going to use that same bullet with Winchester virgin brass and see what happens..

hi guys! im brand new here, and very new to reloading. as a matter of cost, i started with lee dies, but i have been nothing but pleased with them. they may not be the best die, but i think they may be the best die for the money

hey Tricky..There is nothing wrong at all with buying Lee dies.They are very affordable and plenty capable of making your own reloads..
I do not use Lee dies ,simply because I started out with RCBS dies and liked them.So I`ve given most of my patronage to RCBS.I have two sets of Redding dies and they are both for Ackley Improved rounds.
I wanted to give Hornady`s New Dimension dies a try .I`m waiting on it to show up so I can see if I like them or not..
Good luck with your 223 load development.You`ve come to the right place for some advice.These fellas around here have a lot of knowledge and they`ll help ya out..

I have a set of Simplex Dies in .270Win . Two die set.
I think they are from Australia? Have any of you had experience with them? They seem to be of good quality and they delover in the accuracy dept.
What is the best is that I picked them up for a fraction of athe cost of what a RCBS or Redding set would have been.
But I must say if I were to stick to one brand only, it would be Redding. I just like them!!

Hey greysmoke.I`ve never seen any Simplex dies.I imagine you fellas have a lot of different stuff than we do available.I like Redding dies too.They are expensive but they are also good dies and you get your moneys worth in my opinion.I paid over a 100 bucks for the 3 die set for my 223 AI, but I plan on keeping that cartridge in my collection for a long while and Redding dies will last..

For pistol, dillon dies paired with a Lee factory crimp die. Would not use RCBS or hornady dies for pistol, bad karma with them in the past. (Progressive machines don't like RCBS dies.) They make the best single stage stuff, though.
For rifle, I've used RCBS, redding, and Lee collet dies. All good. Dillon in rifle is OK, but pricey. (There's no reason to use dillon dies in single stage presses.) Redding competition is better than dillon for a little more money. Man, this rifle stuff is pricey!
In rifle, on single stage presses, RCBS, Lee= best for the money.
Price no object (On a progressive.), I'd try redding competition.
