Just unpacked a Savge press--called a straight eight it is a single stage .Dies and shellholder also marked Savage.Bought it to put with the rest of my old time collection.Any idea what period this was made???I am guesssing 1960'sIn size it is roughly equal to the RCBS partner---Not a heavy duty press by any means--just a good old working press from a few years back.

Never heard of such a press.

Up until now, I thought Savage just made firearms.

Well, I guess you learn something new everyday!

Interesting find.

I noticed a Savage press listed on e-bay a week ago. Based on the pictures it looked like an O Frame style of press. It did indeed have SAVAGE (highlighted in red) on its side, the press itself was painted gray. Now as to who really made it and when, well that's another story that I'd loke to know about

I wonder how old the O Frame press design really is and who was the first to come out with it?

I have heard of these presses and seen only a couple, they were first produced in the late 1950', I believe, and finally stopped sometime in the mid 1960's, I don't recall much about them , but if they were made like many of the better Savage products they are very good, not as speedy as most people want today fast and sleek, but very serviceable, and should last a long time if properly cared for.

I believe Gun Parts still has shell holders and parts.I think Savage made them in factory.you know they also make shooting ranges. In civil war they made pistols.
