A tid-bit of information for what it's worth.
Ever since I bought my Dillon press, I wanted one of those cool knobs
for the powder bar adjustment. I had seen them for sale on ebay but
couldn't bring myself to pay between ten and twenty dollars for them.
With the advice from another forum, I found this at Home Depot for
about a buck and a quarter. The knob just snaps on the bolt head. Works Great!

The local Home Depot had the knobs in red and black as well.

Gee now I will have to and see if Lowes has them. WE don't have a Home Depot around here.
This knob is a 5/16 bolt head snap on ?
Thanks for the info.

I found them at Home Depot in the hardware isle in the draws of speciality hardware.
I think Lowes will have them in the same area.
The package I have has SKU # 0 30699 83918 6
5/16" X White
Tha black Knob had the same location and bin as the picture and yes it was in bin "J".
Yes they just snap on the head of the nut.

550 Users Alert!!! I have an older Dillon 550 an have run about 2K of 308 through it. This week, suddenly the power measure had a clunking sound, the powder would not throw and the bell mouth was enlarged on the cases. not good-- They have since upgraded to new style linkage and springs so in these uncertain times, I strongly sugest you either upgrade or order the replacement parts as time is getting short until trouble comes and that is not the time to be saying "Oh --ucks or something like that--- Overbore

Roger on that, Jerry. I have known Mike Dillon since he was building tools in his garage and flying for TWA while I wasflying for Pan Am. They will make good on the repairs; period. The point of my post is that if anyone has one of the older types, yellow polymer nut insert on measure slide, they have a bolt that will break as did mine. Since I am on my third 8# jug of power this year, I need that tool running now and the good folks will have anew part here Tuesday. Thanks, Friend .Overbore

Graham,
I have two of the original 550s, they were 450 before then, as well as a SDB. Dillon has sent me replacement parts without question for all of these years. They even have sent me upgrade assembles when the old parts or assemble have broken or just plain wore out.
This is why I use their equipment. My empty primer tube alarm units have all gone bad over the years, I just call and new ones show on the front porch. One the primer rods finally broke and a new one showed up after I called them.
To me the Dillon may not be the best, but it is one of the strongest presses in many ways that I have worked with and mine just keep going like the energized bunny.
I don't know how many 8 lb canister of powder I have put thru my Dillons, probably 30 to 40, as for pounders, I don't know, when my kids were at home they would load until they ran out of something , mostly powder.
I have one of those mid sizes roll around tool cabinets that I all of my dies and shell plates in, as well as any extras or tools I need for my Dillons.
I also have a Rockchucker on my reloading bench, it's for small jobs or swaging military primer holes or what ever the Dillons won't handle. I do have the Dillon primer pocket swager, it gets used when I do a lot of G.I. Brass.
I support Dillon, I am have no connection to the company, other than being a loyal customer for many years.
Jerry

Jerry,
My grandson is using my Rl 1000 for his 5.56 target shooting--. My main press is a Pacific Pro O, circa 1969, that I use for all resizings as it is about as stout as things once were in the country. My older Dodge diesel has a 200# steel front bumper- a SUV Strainer- I like things overbuilt and relaible.
Agree on the Dillon swage tool, I have about 2 k lined up to build up arm strength.
Somewhere between 1975 and 79 I shared a commuter pad with two TWA types at JFK; that is how I learned of Mike. That is the right way to do business-total agreement before trial lawyers and all that garbage of modern life. Jerry, I see a "major event" in our near future as our "Spendocrats" have just printed trillions of paper currency backed by nothing but ink and I saw the same scenario in Argentina and Rio. It will not be pleasant. Cordially,. G

Overbore,
Just keep putting ammo away and have spare parts for the weapons. I will have the new wiring in the shop done this coming week and then will finish my foundry so it will up and running.
I have enough food to get me and mine through the winter. Plus local deer season will be here before you know it. This year I will be able to harvest up to 7 deer.
The reason I keep the Dillon running is the need for ammo in an ever increasing expensive world.
Jerry

Yes sir! Total agreement, Jerry. My son in Colorado is zeroed in at 250 yards with his 30-378. He just collected his kills from the butcher from last year. All he eats is what he shoots then loads his three freezers. He is off this month on a one in a liftime trophy mule deer hunt in Wyoming although we have shot antelope there. Then he turns his 165 grain Accurabonds to the elk in the mountains. --
I was really bumed out when the Dillon failed but upon reflection, it is better now than later when we need it. I ordered spare parts so "later" when the Fit Hits the Shan, if you need Dillon parts, and Mike can not get deliveries, I will gladly share with you. What type of foundry work are you planning, Jerry? I laid in my cast bullets long ago as back ups and have kept form pouring out the projectiles in my 1919 believing that the little brown truck may not be running if we have war in the Middle East. Diesel, however, is is ample supplies here---- keep your powder dry.
I just set up my sharpening tools and slow wet stone so that I will have some useful services to trade---- G

Overbore,
I have all of the stones to sharpen with from Soft Arkansas to the Black Hard Arkansas for sharpening knives and such. Plus I have a bench grinder type shaperer that has composite paper wheels on it.
If you want to store ammo for a time, without using G.I. Ammo cans, try the Reynolds Handi Vac System. I put spare parts in them for long term storage as well as ammo, primers and bullets. I have asked Reynolds about making a version of their gallon bag that is twice as deep and holds 2 gallons, sort of a sportsman version, but then you can vacuum pack a pound of powder, more ammo, meats and fish.
I see that the Zip Lock people have come out with own version of this, but with a manual vacuum pump, the Reynolds system uses a battery powered pump.
I do keep some of my Dillon spare parts in these bags, it keeps them dry and away from the humidity in the air.
Take care,
Jerry

Great tiips, Jerry. My reloading room has solid walls and a dehumidifier. I do use cut to length vacuum bags as appropriate and use Break Free for my bore protection and actions. Fall cleaning and servicing in progress as we are also topping up our storage shelves. Cordially,. G
