| I've never had any problems with the L.E. Wilson trimmer since the shell is in a die it's like a lathe and it can be modified for power.

After the rave reviews of the Lee system I had to give it a try. Price is right so what to lose? Well the setup is twice as fast as any I've used with better results than the rest. Case mouth comes out square and debur in one step.....quite good.
Good reason to listen to the guys on "The Bench"....they have been there before.

| Get the Lee and try it . Reason is it don't cost an arm and leg, and I think you will like it . I use mine with a cordless drill and it works very well. I use my Forrester more these days , but that is mostly because I have it mounted to the bench and it works good also.

I also have a Redding 2400 which i use for .308 on up to 375 RUM and it is very cool but like some of you, I was preping 223 brass tonight with the Lee case gauge and Ball handle Cutter with a screw gun. Very fast and I have to say, my brass was right one once champfered and deburred. Very consistant. all in all 300 pcs of brass didn't take that long to deprime, FL size, trim, chamfer & debur (oh I forgot, even my RCBS swager was working good tonight!!) and prime. I was going to charge and seat the bullets but it started getting kinda late. Darn!!! I need 36 hours in 1 day, 24 is not enough!!!
I'll charge them and seat the boolits tomorrow.
Cheers

What is your evaluation of this unit? I logged on to their website, and it looks good, but is very pricey.

Looks nice, will perform well, perhaps better than any of the machines of the "Establishment", but what if after some years you need parts or want to alter the machine for another caliber, and Mr. Giraud is for some reason out of business?

You make an excellent point.
One would then be forced to develope a relationship with a machinist, and pay high prices for new parts/repairs.

That is why I always buy things which last long from well established companies, and our reloading tools definitely belong into that section.

This trimmer can be powered, but it does not need to be. It does not require the high axial force that others do. It supports the case much closer to the mouth resulting in a straighter and easier cut. They also seem to have a different cutter angle which makes cutting easier and quicker.
IMO, you do need the Sinclair kit with the clamp and stand, or some other clam and stand design.

I just picked up an RCBS Trim Pro trimmer and it has to be the most mickey mouse piece of junk that I have ever had. It uses little coned washers to provide tension on the cases. Who ever came up with that idea had to be drinking, because they do not work. RCBS has replaced the washers once but it still doesnt work right.
My Hornady trimmer which uses my shell holders works just fine. Slow but fine. It hits the hole, and trims the cases consistently. Its a good job to set up across the arms of your lazy boy chair while you have to watch really boring TV with the wife.

I have been using a powered RCBS Trim Pro for years. The springs don't push it very well but I just give a little push with the operating handle and I can pretty much regulate the cutting speed.
It is slow though I can only trim 3 or 4 cases per minute. That may be more a function of the slow operator than the trimmer.

I have used Lee Trimmers for quite a while and although it is still time consuming and tedious once you get into a rhythm it all of a sudden is done and then to the next tedious stage, I love it!
