I can report favorably on Thumler's UV 18 tumbler for all brass as well as the Dillon FL 2000 for my .50 BMG brass

The ultimate tumbler would be an ultra-sonic case cleaner.  Not actually a tumbler, but it'll clean anything you can get on a casing!

I use a Dillon tumbler to clean everything, and I even have one of the smaller Midway tumblers to moly projectiles(if necessary).

Scott (guess that didn't help) B

Burned up one Lyman tumbler, have a MIdway private label one now. It's been going strong for about 8 years.

I have never owned one but a friend of mine had the big Dillon and it was the quietest one I have been around.

Or $7 with media a media separator and some other doodad accessories.

I have been using a Frankford for years. For case cleaning and moly application. Not very quiet but durable and reliable except for the little in line switch. I just spliced the switch out.

Frankford is Midway's brand. Haven't had any problems with mine.

I used a Thumler's for about 20 years - then the motor crapped out on me. Guess that's a good useful life for one, but they're pretty spendy anymore. Think I paid about $79 for it back then - they're a good deal more than that nowadays. I tried to take it apart with an eye toward fixing the motor but that was next to impossible the way they had the motor casing built. So I sh**t canned it.

Next I bought a Frankford Arsenal tumbler at Sportsman's Warehouse. I thought pretty highly of it - until it quit working on me after about 3 hours run time.  :owned:by Frankford Arsenal.

I was a bit hacked off about that - won't buy another Frankford. Took the Frankford back to Sportsman's and exchanged it for an RCBS model. The foot switch on that one gave up the ghost after a couple months - I couldn't fix it,

:owned:again, this time by RCBS.

So, I bought another RCBS of the same model and plugged it into a power strip that has a rocker switch on it. I leave the tumbler foot switch in the "ON" position and control it with the power strip's switch.

The "new" RCBS has been doing yoeman's work now for about 8 months. I just ran a couple boxes of .380 brass through it this morning - they came out bright and shiny.

Only criticism I have with the RCBS machine is that the rubber feet are not soft enough - they won't stick down on the concrete, so the machine turns around in circles until it winds all of the power cord around itself. I stopped that by putting one of those meshy thin rubber kitchen mats under it and setting it up on cinder block.

I feed it walnut shell media. It does OK with that, cleans up the brass quick enough. I just hope it lasts a while. A couple years would be OK. 20 would probably outlast me!
