Ok I have two Rock chucker presses, and like them , never had a problem with them, butI am looking to set up a new reloading bench, at our hunting camp, and was wondering what the general opinion is on what you think is the best press out there ( within reason) It will be to load for rifle only , and not looking for a progressive press!
So, what and why, press should I look at?
or maybe just give me a list of your farorite things i should concider to have at the new bench?( trimmers, tumblers, etc>)

If there are more calibers to be loaded, I would go for the Forster Coax press; no shell holders needed and changing dies within 2 seconds.
These presses will outlast their first owner if taken care for.
Regards,
Paul.

Actually how much is within reason? I would go with another Rockchucker just to be consistant. Or get a Dillon 550 or Hornady Lock and Load for your home loading bench and put your suddenly spare Rockchucker at your hunting camp.
I would have as accessories, a set of calipers, chamfer tool, Lee type of hand primer, decent set of scales, a reloading manual of some sort, bullet trays, lube pad, decaping die set, small tumbler and just about anything else that have on your main loading bench. Becaue if it will happen at home, it will happen away from home also.
I keep some simple tools always on hand, such a screw drivers, pliers, wrenches for dies, paper clips and a few other things.
Hope this helps,
Jerry

Thanks for the imput, I was planning on haveing a whole bunch of basic's like you stated, but was more or less looking for brand name and model, of tools, and calipers, tumblers, and scales. as I like what I have at home, but since the budget is flexable, I figured if there were better brands items than what i have , why not set up the camp with the better stuff!, do it right the first time, and such!
what I have at home is a RCBS, digital scale, digital caliper, powder, primer, thet takes the strips, and 2 rockchucker presses, as well as rcbs case prep tools, case trimmer,chafer/deburing tool, primer pocket cleaner,as well as there pocket uniforming tool, as well as the piolet hole tool, and loading trays, so, most ofd what i have is from RCBS!
and I have several reloading books form , speer, hornady, nosler, and such, I try to buy the newest as they come out!
I am not a very long time, or really experienced at reloading(right now, plan on doing alot more now I have more time on my hands), so I was wondering if there are better items than what I have? and if so what are they, I plan to spend a lot of time at my camp, so I will be using these new tools alot!
so, my budget is flexible(to a point!) what should I buy??

yes, it is a very modern place, satalite tv and all, we made a special room , 16 foot by 20 foot with two very big and sturdy benches, with great lighting, just set a side for a reloading room!
, so again, what model stuff should i buy for it, having two of everything is a possibility, but first I would like to to get one GOOD set of things, and then see what the budget allows for adding a second same item!
thanks again

I also had a lot of RCBS stuff, but gradually changed over to Forster for the press, trimming and dies, just first class tools at reasonable expences.
At the other hand I must confess, I am highly impressed by the performance of ammo made from cases, neck-sized with the Lee Collet die.
I do have a Dillon Terminator digital scale, but it must be my age which makes, that I cannot have complete confidence in it and I am currently using an Ohaus Dial-o-grain scale which out-performs all scales I posessed in the past.

My loading bench is an assortment of stuff. Things that I find that work for me generally hang around until they wear out or break.
I have a Pact scale and powder dispenser and like it a lot. But I havea triple beam balace and a RCBS set of manual scales.
I like the Dillon 550s, but the Rockchucker does the small jobs of the special work, like something is stuck or what ever.
Anyone realize that 58 years ago today, teh Korean War started?
My hat is off to those folks.

I would choose a Lyman or RCBS turret press. It would allow you to accurately throw a box of shells together quickly.

thanks, guys, so I guess that what I have is about as good as anything out there, so maybe I will just set up as I have at home, but feel free to add to the list of what i should look at!
Thanks

If your hunting buddies are gonna chip in $$$$, by all means get a QuickLOAD program for your laptop!About $300+ , but it's amazing.
Order a couple 'Tertial' telescoping lights from IKEA- ~$15 ea. incl. shpg., for use directly over your press & powder measure.Just remember to keep ANY electronic /digital scales, powder measures, etc. as far away from any fluorescent lights (and/or magnets!) as possible.
Google for :Jorgensen hold-down clamps-about $15 each, but can be mounted anywhere on your bench; not just on the edges.<Order 3-4 extra bolts so you can move 'em around.>Countersink the bolts, so they drop below the surface when you're not using 'em.
2 non-magnetic torpedo levels (emphasis on the non-magnetic!) [less than $10 pr.] ,to mount under the front edge and under one side of your "hopefully-not- attached- to- the -rest- of- the- bench,independently-leveled" scales shelf.
Mount that scales shelf @ about eye-level,and you'll like it better- especially if you mount that top shelf on 4 pcs. of 1/2" or 5/8" all-thread.Drill holes (slightly larger than the all-threads) thru the 4 corners of the "scales" shelf, put 4 wingnuts & 4 fender washers on the all-threads under your shelf and have instant "levelability".
Sorry so wordy.

My vote goes to the Hornady L-N-L or the RCBS RockChucker.

I strongly advise the COAX press;
Once good adjusted, the die changing takes only 2 seconds, no shell holders needed, and by the floating die system, the only run-out will be from the exentricity of the die itself, not from a misalignement of the press-ram.
I do not know about the difference in pricing in the USA, here it is a lot, but after all it paid back to me very quickly from the better results.

I'll go with the Redding presses. I use the Redding Boss and like it. I wore out a RCBS Jr which was ok but was not as good as the Redding. Don't have experience with the Rock Chucker but have never heard anything negative about them.
