I have a set and used them until I got a Lee powder measure.  Don't care much for the powder measure so might go back to the scoops and trickle to amount I want.  The powder measure is too inconsistent with all powders.

I have the whole set - bought it at a local gunshow.  Did a lot of my early .38Spcl and .45ACP loads with it.  Consistency was always iffy though - I guess I just didn't develop the knack of carding it properly.  I finally got intimate with my Lee Perfect Powder Measure, and now only use one dipper for doing BP in my cap&ball revolvers.

I bought a set of yellows in '08 and use them for working up loads, small batches.  Like others here, I use one to get close then trickle to the right weight.

Once I got brave and loaded some 9mm, 10 each of 5 different powders using only the measures.  One batch was a little too energetic for my liking (using 800x) but all shot well.

Don,

Sometimes learn how to do it the old ways, gives you an appreciation for what we do and where many of us started.

I have two sets of the new ones and some where around I have a set of the old ones. Plus I just got a 12g Slug Mold with a Lee scoop in with the mold.

you see them on E-BAY often.i have seen the red and black sets also.the older sets i believe are only 13 scoops. they all usually go for more than they can be had from our favorite mail order places.i have thought of buying a set.the only lee dippers i have now are those that come with lee die sets.i have a few brass dippers that get used with my old ideal hand tools.i have used them at the range and in camp.

I have and still use the yellow set - scoop into the balance pan and trickle up to the load.

They work great! Over the years I have purchased 3-4 sets. I modify them with sand paper and a good flat surface. If the dipper size I need is not listed for a given powder I go to next size up and sand the dipper down to where I need to be.

Heck yea I got a set. As a matter of fact I think I have several, or least parts of several. One of the first reloader I had was the old Lee Loader with a bright pretty yellow dipper in it. All you needed was a mallet (or whatever you felt comfortable with) to bang on them. I've had more than a couple people look at me like I was crazy when I used them. Sorry for the hijacking, just made me think of the loader when I thought of the dippers.

The accuracy of the loads depend on how consistent you scoop & card off.  My first .45ACP loads using Red Dot powder and 185 grain Nosler jacketed flatpoints was very accurate, even though the actual powder load was a bit lighter than the Lee data said it should be.  Consistency is the key!

It's just quicker and easier now to use the scale and powder thrower once I have them adjusted, especially for doing a larger batch.

I have a set which I use to supplement the 2 RCBS powder measurers I have when I am too lazy/too big a hurry to set-up the powder measure or whenever I only need to load 5-10 'test rounds'.  Very convenient-

I have the yellow set, plus a lot of regular ones that came packaged in the Lee loader kits.
I have modified some to fit my needs, and have made my own from cases cut to length.
I have a dozen of so dillon powder measures, but they're of no use when using a non-dillon press.
Sometimes, to get a 'feel' for a load I'll bring a Lee loader kit and a batch of components to the range, and try to zero in on the perfect feel before I ever set up my dillon for a particular caliber.
A good scale and trickler is mandatory there, but the Lee slide chart for powder density (That came with the scoop set.), and the 1-100 scale of powder weights and densities help me zoom in on the right powder for the job. A handy reference guide.

I use the scoops, the included chart, a powder density chart, and a few other helpful charts to select powders for use with different bullet weights for the same caliber.
For example: a light weight plated 9mm bullet with bullseye takes the same volume of powder as a heavier bullet with power pistol in the same caliber. One less setting I have to adjust while changing over to a different bullet weight. My powder measure is clearly marked as what powder to use with what bullet.
I'm not going to get any more specific than that.
I find a lot of the time the volume that the powder takes up in the case is a precursor to accuracy, so I try to stay in a certain range.
