I have both the digital and dial but prefer the digital 10 to 1 over the dial version. One you use the digital you will never go back to old dial version. Buy one Timber it is a great investment as are the digital scales.

If you are very experienced in using the dial type, you can switch over after you have the feel of how tight to measure things. With the dials, you get more of a visual comparison when you measure something 3-4 times. It cracks me up when I read gunrags and some gunwriter is measue\ring something +/- .001 with dial or digital calipers. Hell, you can vary .003 just by the way you hold them on something. Then they say they can even extrapollate to +/- .0005. I still can't figuer out how they can measure shot groups to three decimal places.
I worked in machine shop, and ran a shop for quite a few years. You use calipers for so-so work , but go to micrometers when you want precision

I'm a fan of most all digital reloading tools. It's quicker and I believe them to be more accurate. Very easy to read too.
I'd recommend them!

Hey SADDLE you are right on the mark about reading down to nat hair size. I took machine shop for 10 month back when i was young and decided that i didn't want to make a living at it, so i went to college and ended up with a white collar job in the hospitial. If you want very precise measurements get a micrometer. The others will get you mighty close for reloading quality ammo and that is good enough for me.

I bought this set from Mitutoyo a few years back, and it's been a reliable pair of tools. The micrometer reads to 5 decimal places, (50 millionths), but thats not necessary for handloading. If you check around I've seen this set on sale for less than shown on the link. billt
