I have a set of old Herters 6.5X257 Rob dies that I got with my rifle. Long story short I broke the expander ball. Does anyone know if I can use a different expander ball (of the same caliber of course) maybe a rcbs, lee...to work or doe anyone know of a satisfactory stock pile of old parts?

Thanks

Ed

i'm not sure on the herters i did use a 6.5 rcbs in a lee once when the decapping pin broke ..... for some reason when i think of herters and interchangeability i think of ch-4d ( no quotes plz ) i do know that they could make one ..sometimes gun parts co. has old parts ( tho i think they changed their name ? )

With Herters stuff, check out Gun Broker or eBay for the parts. Herters hasn't been around for years, so part are getting hard to find.

Also if you find a deal on Herter's stuff with more than just want you want, buy it any way. Herters made a lot of really good stuff that was heavy duty.

I just went in and took an expander ball off my 25-06 Redding die and it screws right on to my 25-06 Herter's MKIV dies. If you want I'll go pull an RCBS ball to, bet it will work!
