Here is an example:

I cut then epoxied a end of a thin strip of tin can to the top of primer tray cover where the primers feed into the trough. At the entrance I bent the strip down so it keeps the primers in place till primer tray is plugged in.

this one i'm sure is being read by those in control ( read that the staff etc and those higher up than i ) tips m tricks is always a good one , i wonder at least since this is equipment related if the proposed catagory wouldnt best be placed as a stikki in tools of the trade ?

but as long as we are on tips for lee.....

my fav one is to rout/drill a hollow under my turret/pro 1000's mounting board to hold more spent primers and drill a 1/2" hole thru the bottom , one could put a plastic tube to a trash can/catch or do as i do and use a old foam earplug to plug the hole

speaking of old ear plug.... i also use one in the bottom of my kenitic pullers to prevent deformation of the tip of soft noses !

I did a similar job on the LM by removing the trap door at the bottom of the ram and ran a tube down with a baggy attached. No more coat hanger ramming and jamming.

Have you tried the QUINETICS collet? It really speeds things up... not that I've ever screw up to have to do a whole bunch:rolleyes:  It eliminate the need to unscrew the collar to insert or remove the components. I had use a shell holder but this is way simpler!   If anyone decides to get it all ya need to buy is the collet. It works in the RCBS and another one my son has.

most the time i found that i only had to turn the cap a 1/4 turn to get the shell out , i had considered the shell holder but a thread on another forum convinced me not to try ( explosion) lucky for me i rarely have to use my bullet puller and if i recall i've only used my rcbs one twice, the kenetic ones i have used more but usually for rounds i pick up else where and save the brass/bullets
this is the one i assume ur referring too ?

http://www.quineticscorp.com/newtwist.asp

my oldest one ( i have two ) u might say is that way but from the o-ring i glued in and cut , the other has a steel key ring type spring that i cut shorter so it works the same ( tho i do like the crimp o-ring idea ! )

trimming ....no one i know loves it ,most consider it the worst part of reloading, all that being said i have to admit that the lee system isnt bad,and there's several ways to do that , the drill press, the zip trim, the electric drill...etc ,and while i also use a lyman universal or a hornady it still gets tedious after a bit ,alot of times i do them in batches of 50,especially using the lathe type ( with or without the power feed) to make it seem to go by faster i often just trim and then chamfer when i'm done ,i just pull a case from the tray and trim and then set it back upside down from the ones i havent trimmed,i may do 10 or so then switch to chamfer to help break the monotony of it ,seems to make it go by faster for me ...
the lee system if i have the lock stud in a drill i usually chamfer after i trim each case, but i also have a bronze chuck that the cutter fits into ,when i use that i trim a bunch and then chamfer a bunch , i havent tried the drill press version but i believe it works much the same ,chuck ur cutter into the drill and ur good to go,so i'm open to tips as to what makes it easy or less monotonous to ya'll (without the gracie or the dillon system lolz) i do like the concept behind the rcbs 3-way cutter tho

Perhaps somebody could make some money by starting a trimming service for cases?

If the batch to be trimmed is big enough to cause desparate feelings coming up just when looking at the pile of boxes waiting for a trim and ev. primer crimp removal one might consider paying a few cents/case to have somebody else doing the job:sofa:.

Regards,

Paul, who hates trimming too!

thanx fer the grin amigo !!!!!

i admit that the primer pocket to me is even more tedious than the trimming so much so that those get regulated to the dead last group, and when it comes to surplus 223 cases i usually prefer to buy those processed lolz( doesnt that make it easier ? lolz)when i was a kid dad pretty well instilled a few great things in me ,one i apply to everything but this," do the hardest stuff first, that way when ur done with that part everything left is easy " he also used the same concept for food "taste everything then eat what ya dont like first-that way all that is left is the good stuff"

@Fryboy; Looks, we are raised in the same way-not a bad way at all when looking back and around.

umm if i shared the secrets they wouldnt be secret anymore  lolz the rest i share freely when i can ... i suppose as a main category in "Metallic cartridge reloading" it would be a viable folder yet i cant seem to escape the fact that tho some tips interchange ( such as clean primer pockets )that other's have their own unique tips ( such as mica-ing ur wads in shotguns)

The new section is up and running, instead of posting the wholw thread in the new section, it would be nice, if the idea or device would just be posted there.

Thanks,

Jerry

This is another Paul that hates trimming. I finally sprung for a Lyman Power trimmer but when it went toes up, Lyman was about as uncooperative as can be. The hag I talked too wasso rude, would not give me answers to fix my problem and figuratvely told the to go to hell. She just did not care. I asked for her supervisor and as told he was not available. Finally, i wrote a letter to the CEO of the outfit that now owns Lyman. it's been over a year and no response. Then I went for one of those electronic powder measures that weighed the charge, I spent the extra money on the RCBS machine. My ex-son-in-law went with the Lyman version and it fired. he' still fighting them. Maybe, next time he'll listen to me. Lyman will no longer get any of my money.

What I do now is I removed the crank handle from my RCBS trimmer and used a drill with a half inch chuck. It's a tad awkward until you get used to it ut after that it's about as fast as the Lyman power trimmer. I'm scrounging the pennies to get one of the RCBS power trimmers.

One thing though, you have to be careful when using the drill thing. If you get a case that's stiff pulling the pilot out and the thing slams back hard when you pull it out, the adjustment can be changed. I keep my dial claiper set to the cases I'm doing and use it as a snap guage to insure no brass is trimmed to the wrong size.

Paul B.
