I just left the sporting goods store and purchased a new LH Model 70 Featherweight in 270 WSM . I will mount a B&L 4200 Elite on this rifle. I purchased this rifle for the action and may rebarrel to 25x270 WSM , but will shoot it in factory for a while. My next step will be to order a McMillian glass stock and rebed this rifle. I will post other photos when i get the scope mounted.

Great looking rifle Bea.I hope it shoots as good as it looks.I looked at a Win model 70 last week chambered for the same cartridge but it had an ugly cheap looking synthetic stock on it.Let us know how it shoots during load development.I`m interested in anything in the .277...

I love model 70s.

Of all the wsms you picked one of only 2 that intrest me. The other being the .325.

Your wildcat Idea is a good one too ! I read an article where john sundra built a 25 on the rsaum case and it was a sweet heart.  I can't argue much with your scope choice either Bushnell eoits are good scopes but i preffer to buy americn most of the time !!!    ...tj3006

Good deal bea!

I bought one last year in the standard 270 offering and have no major complaints so far.  Good accuracy, pretty wood, and handy makes it one of my new found favorites.

I had, for about 1 month, a M70 Coyote in the 270 WSM.  It was a pretty neat cartridge though I didn't get a chance to load for it or give it a real workout on the range.  However, the 270 WSM seems to expand the 270 family into the 7mm Rem. Mag realm.  Good deer/elk gun out to 250 yards or so.

I think that if a bonafide 25 WSM (not WSSM) wildcat platform were in my wishlist. A featherweight platform or a heavy varminter platform would be the ticket.

Glad you mentioned the re-bed job.  The "glass bedding" on my 270 FWT is a joke as it came from the factory.  Little more than a dab of hot glue in the recoil lug but it still shoots well.

I have the left hand SS model 70 in the standard 270 and really like it. The reason i will rebed ,i purchased a Feather Weight Mod 70 in 257 Roberts and gave it to my 13 year old nephew and when i adjusted the trigger , the bedding was pretty bad ,but you are right they shoot well to be bedded no better than they are.
