Nice Buy, TIMBER.  I've always had a lot of respect for the .284 class of magnum cartridges.  Partially why I went with the .280 Ack Imp when I rebarreled my Springfield.  Both my dad and bro have a 7mm RemMag rolling for a big game rifle.  They've done real well with theirs.  While it's not exactly RemMag performance, this Ack Imp should be able to offer similar success.

I'm looking forward to seeing how your stock painting turns out.  I'm not a fan of those plastic stocks, no matter the color they get painted, but lots of folks seem to be going that way as an option to spruce things up a bit.  Boyds, for a laminate of one color or another, would be my direction of thinking, but you probably already know that.

Since Nosler's come out with their AccuBond, that'll probably be the only bullet I'll ever use for deer.  The 160's in the 7mm RUM performed real well last year.  I've got the 140's loaded up in the .280 Ack Imp with several hunts scheduled for it over the course of this year.  You're RemMag would certainly have the where-with-all to make fine use out of either of these weights.  Now I just need Nosler to expand AccuBond production so I've got the .277 130's and .264 120's to replace the BT's in the .270 Win and .264 WinMag.

Good luck with the rifle.  >>  klallen

Hey Klallen.. I  have liked what I seen with the 7 mm Mauser as far as the.284 bullets accuracy potential. This is my first go around with a 7MM Mag.140`S OR 160`in it should perform excellent on these Texas whitetails.I might try the Accubond bullet.I`ve never tried them in any of my rifles and this would be a fresh start with the 7 mm Mag..

I will get some pics of the stock befor and after .It definately made a difference on the model 10 I redid. It feels better in the hands than the slick synthetic did and I think it looks much better..Keep us posted on your 280 AI.That is a very interesting cartridge.Talk to ya later..Gene

Well timber, in all honety I don't know if they make a 358 norma conversion either but i like the Idea. But as I understand it the midway kits come with the wrech and the headspace guage.  By the way I bet you wi;; ;okethe 7 mag. Mine shoots any thing you put in it accurately as long as its reasonably clean. For an all around cartridge it is as good s any thing out there in the lower 48...tj3006

I got to shoot it today.Honestly it had a little more recoil than I expected from it but nothing that was gonna bust your eyebrow or such.It is a very light rifle.Me and the scope are not getting along too well, and the trigger needs some help.I`ll wait till later on the trigger though.Too many other irons in the fire at the moment.

From what I seen today ,shes gonna be a shooter.I think I`ll replace the stock later on too.I like the looks of that Boyds stock on klallen`s 25-06.It would look good on this rifle...:thumbs:
