They look to be a good rifle for the money and will go up quickly if they start selling. Since they don't offer it in LH , i will never buy one .

Timber,

Nothing wrong with Mossberg. I think they make one of the best low cost firearms around. I reciently bought a Mossberg 500 Pump in 12 Ga. as a house gun for Melanie. We keep it stuffed full of trap loads. I got the thing with 2 barrels, (one 28" Vented Rib with a Modified Choke, and one 18" cylinder bore), out the door for $218.00. It's a really nice gun. One of the last really good buys out there except for maybe Savage. I think a good dependable shotgun is about the best home defense weapons around.  billt

Hey bill..Nothing wrong with Mossberg at all.One of the fellas I dove hunt with, shoots a Mossberg 12 gauge. He is deadly with that rascal. He consistantly downs more birds than half the guys that shoot with us.

Good pick for a home defense weapon too..

I`ve heard people discussing these rifles on other forums and the chatter is,they are pretty accurate out of the box rifles.

That is excellent, maybe some of the bigger name rifle makers could drop the price a few dollars on their average hunting rifle...(Hint..Ruger)

I bought one in .270 last year, super accurate right out of the box. Holds 4 in the mag just dont put one in the chamber also it seems to develope feeding and jamming problems with the extra round. just fill the mag and she works flawlessly. I traded it in for a 30-06 same gun and it functions as the .270 with a little load developement these are tack drivers right out of the box. Just my opinion The Mossberg ATR100 is a

I remember reading that Mossberg was making rifles but I haven't seen any.   It's good to hear that they're good shooters.   And the price sure sounds good.   I need to get to some gun stores soon.

I still have my orginal '72 Mossberg with the Western Auto Revelation label on it in 30-06 its been an awesome rifle for all these many years.  Since its so old now its a collectors item now too.  I have to retire it soon.  I need to get a new mossberg ATR in 30-06 maybe for fathers day my kids will get me one.  Lastyear my son got me a new Savage 17HMR bolt action rifle.  Now i heard the new mossberg ATR bolt action rifle is made by the maverick people in Texas since i have been in touch about this new rifle with mossberg they have confirmed this.  I have only heard good things about this new mossberg rifle and along with its accuracy and affordable price it sure sounds like we have a winner.  I just may get one in 270win too.  It sounds like its a plain jane hunting rifle with no frills bells or whistles too and for $244 with scope rings it gets my vote.                                                            BigBill

I have been using a mossberg 500 for years and I love it. If the rifles are even half as good I am going to have to save up some money for one of those rifles.

I looked at one today chambered in 270 Win.If it shoots as good as it feels  the big name gun makers might have some affordable priced competition..:sofa:

Someone on one of the forums said his new 270 mossberg atr was shooting either 1/2" or 3/4" groups with bought ammo.  I think the next new bolt action  rifle just maybe a new 270 mossberg atr.                                                               BigBill

BTW;  I sent them an Email about making them in a few different calibers too besides the 30-06 and 270win.  I think once they catch on they will.

For $244 with a synthetic stock and scope mounts too you just can't beat it.

Hey Timberghozt, How was the trigger on that ATR you looked at? Was the action smooth. I've looked everywhere today to see if I could find a dealer in my area that carries them so I could feel it out but had no luck. Everone says they can't beat wally-worlds price so it don't pay to carry them. Now what to do.

Hey hunter. The one I handled was in 30-06.The action is smooth enough.I released the trigger on it when I closed the bolt.I was afraid to dry fire it in the store.:shameon:The bolt was smooth enough. It could use some smoothing on the races but thats a minor detail. The only thing I didn`t like was an ugly looking barrel nut sort of thing where barrel and receiver meet.Otherwise I wouldn`t complain. It should be a good shooter from what I saw..

Man am I PISSED OFF. Went to wally-world today. They had a Moss. ATR100 so I asked to look at it. The barrel had rub marks on it from being in the rack. I kiddingly asked the mgr. if he would give me a discount and he said he would. I could have it for $220.61. My wife looked at me and said she would buy it for me for a aniversary present if I wanted it. SOLD I said.... Now for the pissed off part. I completed all necssary paper work and the mgr. sent it off. Ten min. later he tells me I've been put on DELAY and it could be 1 hr. to six months before he gets a reply. I've bought numorous rifles, shotguns and handguns under this new so called ''Federal Law'' and have never had this problem before. I'm no criminal, got no felonys, and obey the laws. The Goverment sure did'nt fill out these papers when he put a ''gun'' in my hands and sent me off to war. And I did'nt run off to Canada to avoid the draft, I joined of my own accord. Is this the govt's way to piss off the honest gun buyer so he says to hell with it.From now on I gues I'll just buy used guns. At least ''they'' won't have it on record so in return ''they'' won't be able to someday come and ''TRY'' to take them away. And ''they'' wonder why no one wants to join-up these days. I'm truly hurt by this. I feel as though I'VE been betrayed by the country I love and fought for.... A pissed off Disabled Vet I am.
