This is tuff, what to do? I think maybe a 222 Rem and a 280 Rem. That would handle everything I would hunt with whats left of my life. Make both a bolt action; 222 Rem a L461 Sako and 280 Rem, Rem 700 Classic.
Stay tuned for up dates. This answer is prone to change at any time!

I would still use my AR in 223 and a 308, most likley my M1A.
Both good for hunting and to help defend the home place.

Have to be my Savage Model 10LE in .308, and my DPMS Panther4 with AGOG in 5.56mm. Best of both worlds and both extremely accurate.

After some thought I remember having this conversation with a few hunting buddies at least 30years ago, the only diff. was "what if you could only have one gun?" my pick was a .308, I had just retired my 6.5 by 54 mann/sch. because norma did not supply them any longer. My pick remains the same, I should say win. .308 and I have had every make you can think of. Just my 2 cents worth but give it some thought.

For North American hunting I would use a .338 WM. and a .223. Both in quality bolt guns. If hunting world wide I would choose a .375 H&H and a .308 with a 7.62x51 nato chamber, ammo for these two is available and very popular world wide.

Gonna kinda cheat on this one. My primary picks 30-06 and 22lr. But secondary probably a 375 h&h and 223 if centerfire only is the question.

I'm down to three hunting rifles now Rossi M92 in 44 mag, a 98 Mauser in 7x57 and my 700 Classic in 350RM. The 44 has turned into the wife's plinker so I guess I only have two now

For me it would be 280 Rem and 300 Win mag Then again a .260 Rem and a 35 Whelen would also suit me just fine for anything that I would need them for. Sure glad I am not limited to two rifles only though.

Just two rifles, Jerry for anything you want to hunt or protect yourself from. Note I did not say guns -ie. shotguns. Just rifles.

My .308, and my .22 rimfire.
If the .22 had to be center fired, I dunno what it'd be, but it wouldn't be an AR, or a clone. Can't stand 'em, even after carrying one 13 years, but, that's just me.
The folks who like 'em, can keep 'em.

I would go with my Rock River Entry Tactical w/Eotech in 5.56, though I would rebarrel it with a chrome bore barrel, and a current Winchester M70 in 7mm mag or 30-06. I can't see myself ever getting to Africa or Alaska, so anything bigger wouldn't be needed.
My 2 cents.

I guess i've already kinda done this, only by choise. For many years now, this Krieghoff drilling has been my "go to" gun.

I really don't need any other firearm than this one, so these days, it's almost all i use. It weighs just 7 pounds, and the 8x57JRS bottom bbl. shoots VERY good with 200NP's at 2,550fps.

I've harvested everything from moose and bear,

On down to numerous white tails ect. with the rifle bbl.,

Turkeys, pheasants and other small game with the shot bbls.,

And even some preditor control with the rimfire,

Anyway, i've been hunting with this drilling for more than 25 years, and it will be with me until i take my eternal dirt nap!

There's plenty of them around used, you just have to wait for a deal on the one you want... That's how i bought the above one.

Not long ago i could have bought one with hammers that needed some TLC for $500.00, and just before that i saw a decent one with scope for $1,500.00. (i'm sure i could have bought it for less) From there, the sky is the limit, depending on a lot of things, like engraving, what it's chambered for ect...
