Has anyone seen or know anything first hand about the new Rem. R-15 rifle?

What are they going for ($)?

Yep that's what I heard - DPMS by another name.  There's also a rumor going around that Remington bought DPMS.  Remington did buy Marlin and Remington is owned by Cerebus Holdings so it makes you wonder what all is going on with Remington.

One thing that has intrigued me is, if I read correctly, the R-15 has a single stage trigger and is MSRP priced cheaper than any of the AR step-children. I shot a friend of mine's AR with a two stage trigger and I did not care for it, and neither does he.

Most ARs come with a single stage trigger from the factory. I have a Jewel 2 stage in both of mine and greatly prefer it to any of the single stages.

The 2 stage gives you much more control over trigger management.

***CORRECTION***

Remington actually purchased Bushmaster.  Therefore the new Remington AR would be of a Bushmaster make.  This coming from dakotasin on our sister site - baitshopboyz.com

As per Remington's web site, the R-15 is in .223 Rem. caliber. I am wondering if it can handle 5.56 NATO safely? What about the other ARs on the market, of which I'm not familiar? I would imagine since it states 223 Rem. that is all it is for. I will have to check on the twist rate.

Also, can a faster twist rate of the 5.56 ARs accurately shoot 55 gr. bullets?

Remington actually purchased BOTH but the R-15 is a Bushmaster. All my Bushmasters will handle the NATO rounds, has it stamped in the barrels. Not sure if all them will or not though.

I have found out that Cerabus (not sure if this is spelled correctly) owns Remington now. They are the ones who bought Marlin, Bushmaster and DPMS as well as Chrysler Corp. and I am sure a few other things. They are a Wall Street investment group. As I understand it, Remington did not buy squat.

A little food for thought: This is a little scary to me, for a major investment firm to own so many reputable firearms manufacturers. It seems to me it would be easy for Barack or Hillary to gain control and strangle so many firms at once!

If you really want something scary to think about........rumor is that they are looking at Smith & Wesson to get in the hand gun market, also.  S&W bought out Thompson Center recently.

Need to check you facts a little better. No a lot better. DPMS has never made Bushmaster and Remington was bought out by someone else  who now owns them all. They have also bought out Marlin, NEF and H&R
