Go to the Hunting Africa topic on the home page.

A friend of mine goes to Africa. He uses a 500 Nitro and 458 Lott for the bad stuff, and a 375 H&H or a 338 WinMag for most else. He has told me numerous times that if he could have only one rifle to hunt anything on earth, it would be a 375 H&H. Hope this helps!

I have never been hunting in Africa, but have been to Tanzania and South Africa. The minimum I would take is the 375 H&H, then you need a really heavy duty rifle for a back up, like a 600 Nitro Express. I hear a charging Rhino may be a hard thing to stop if you annoy him.

Up the road from me is J.D. Jones and he builds some really great Hand cannons that people claim they have taken major animals in Africa with, J.D. is a very successful hunter!

But what ever you take practice a bunch with them before you leave for Africa. So you don't have any surprises.
