Just finshed inventorying my rifles. Geez, no wonder the safes are so crowded!
Up to 70 rifles, mostly milsurps and levers.
20 Mauser varients, includes sporters but not M1917s or 1903s.
12 Mosin Nagant varients, mostly Russian, USSR, and Finn.
7 Levers, 5 Winchester and 2 Marlin.
Arisakas, Enfields, etc.
I really appreciate my wife, she's never given me a moment's grief over buying guns!

I have about 20 or so at the moment. Various pistols, shotguns, rifles. I am about to inherit my fathers collection (he passed a few months ago)
Everyone of his firearms has sentimental value to me.
My wife pretty much leaves me alone when it comes to it. I only buy a new gun when I have the extra cash. She moans about the credit card bills for reloading stuff sometimes but not to much.
I told her would you rather have me spending money on reloading stuff and stay at home or go to the strip club a few miles away and blow it on women and booze? (well I do go there on occasion)

I have bunch of rifles, from 17 HMR to 600 Nitro Express. Bolt guns, lever guns, semi autos and what ever else. I have pistols from my Ruger Single Six in 22Lr to my Grendel 380 to several 9mms, a couple of 357s and lots of 45s. Then there is my T/C Contender collection, barrels from 221 Fire Ball to 45 Win Mag. One original Contender Carbine kit in 223.
I always need more, new rifles, new pistols, new calibers and more reloading stuff.

i don't know the answer to the question about how many i need. i think my response will always be 'just one more'.
i do not know how many rifles i have now. i do know i only have 3 ar-15's, 1 lever gun, and probably only 2 or 3 mil-surps - and i can also tell you that on more than 1 occasion i 'found' a gun in the gun room that i completely forgot i even had.
a couple years ago i started an excel spreadsheet to track my guns, complete w/ serial numbers, and price originally paid. for an unknown reason i quit tracking them. maybe it is something to start again...?
anyway, if i had to hazard a guess at my rifle count, i would say it is probably somewhere around 65 or so, the vast majority of which would be some sort of remington 700 variant, and second most would probably be winchester 70 variants (but, oddly enough, no push feeds or 670 series). the overwhelming majority of the rifles are wearing some sort of leupold scope, and all newer purchases have talley lightweight rings - anything purchased prior to 2001 or 2002 will have a hodge-podge of scope mount systems (leupold, weaver, warne). even though the bulk of my scoped rifles are leupolds, i also have some zeiss, bushnell, and nikon.
at any rate, wife doesn't care much what i have or what i acquire, but she does get mad when she trips over them or can't get something done because some are in her way.

I must be sick in the head or something because I don't NEED any more rifles. (Handguns either for that matter.) Over the past few years I have taken careful account of what I have and what I thought I needed to fill perceived gaps in the battery. Then I went out and added as I found the "needfuls." Now I am in the position of not needing, or even wanting, much of anything. I have what I want.
Will there be other guns? Oh, sure. But if I had any will power (should be WON'T power!) I wouldn't NEED another firearm as long as I lived.
Or, since I have planned far ahead, much new ammo either.

| Nahh, Find out how much you can afford, then go out and spend twice that... Works for me, but sometimes I don't have any food money...

Just buy all you can, then buy ammo and cleaning gear. Then think about getting the reloading dies and supplies to reload.

Now for years I just had a couple of hunting rifles and they did me just fine I reckon! Then one day I got the Blue Steel BUG, a nasty little critter it was too. I just could not satisfy it with scratching my backside, I had to go buy myself another rifle and that darn bug has been with me ever since.
I managed to fill up a very large Fort Knox safe and then I started on the big vault in my home. Now that took some doing but I believe that the critter I call the "Blue Steel Bug" has been satisfied for the most part. It just loves to have a new gun put back into the vault. I figure that shopping for a gun or two, always seem to keep me out of the Saloons!

You need to buy at least 2 more gun safes to put all your new rifles in.

I purchased a Win 95 that is in 45 ACP since I posted last on this thread, it needs some work done on it, some restoration, rebluing and a couple of parts replaced.
There is always one more out there that I need to have!
