you can go to the winchester web site input  the serial #  and they will give you the year  it was made (it may not be 1892 even if thats the stamp mark ) and some times they have other data about your gun

my brother inlaw bought a hole box of old guns for $500 from an old girlfriend (11 long guns & 8 pistols ) one of them is a 1895 30-30win (first year for that cal)turns out its worth 4-5K

From the 28th edition of the Blue book of gun values 95%$2650 ,90%2250, 80%1650, 70%1350,60%1000,50% 900.
If your gun was manufactured between 1892 and 1898, double this monetary graduation.

Been a while since I've bought a price guide. I've got an 1892 rifle in .38 WCF, first year production. If I look at the guide, I'll be afraid to take it out of the safe!

In my ignorance, I take it out and shoot it, and even hunt with it occasionally.

I hear ya Charley.I handload for this little rifle and shoot her.My father gave it to my son as a present.DirtKicker looked up my year of manufacture with the serial numbers. It was mad in 1924.I would call the wood and metal at about 70 percent. The wood is a little rough on her and someone else might call her as low as 50 percent.
I love these old peices of history.I love to shoot em.:thumbs:I have no use for something just to look at and never fire....but I wish I could get my hands on more old rifles  like this ,a 44-40,38-55,25-20 ahhhh more stuff to be on the lookout for:wink:
Thanks fellas
TG

Timber, I wrote 1923. It's MINE that was made in 1924.

BTW, the .32-30 is a fine caliber and a great c/f for a kid. I took so many marmots with one as a youngster that rodentia still have an APB out on me!

I owned a '92 in 25/20 when I was a kid and let it get away from me before I realized what I had.
I think I might have a beater stock  for a '92 if you want one you dont have to worry about busting . I'll check the stockpile.
