the 450 thread has given me the bug and i have purchased a DPMS lower.2 things i favor the 458 over the 450 are bullet selection and avaliability and the use of an unaltered magazine.ballisticially it looks like the 458 will do with a 300 gr semispitzer with a bc of .291 what the 450 will do with the 250 gr unavaliable bullet from hornaday with a bc of .216. also the bullet construction, being for rifles is heavier.dont know what the coal will be with the 300 gr or if it will work on an AR15. the case has a head and base dimension of the 50 AE with a longer length, necked for 45 cal rifle bullets.
