So how many of you here use a bipod? I did, but recently sold the last one I had. I mounted them on my rifles, but only used them once here in MT. Every shot I took but two, were from the standing position, as I had to act quickly. Had I hunted more like I planned to (set up and glass), I would have had more use for them. Now that I will be hunting in the south again, really no need for them. I will be back to using my tree stand. I will admit, I really like the style of hunting I did here in MT a lot better, than what I grew up doing in the south. Here as mentioned, I either glassed them, or did a spot and stalk aproach, usually a mixture of both. Can't really say I missed tree stand hunting, but in most places I have hunted in AR, you tree stand hunted, so no one else shot your butt. Hopefully I can get access to a few private properties, where spot and stalk, still hunting will be more accepatable way to hunt.

Hey Hogfan.I have a set on my 25-06 I use when I am calling coyotes. They are the Harris extended legs so I can sit with the rifle up to shoulder height.I have a set on my heavy barreled Savage 12BVSS-S too but they are from a company called b-square.The jury is still out on them,I`m not sure I like them.
I routinely swipe by Harris`s off of this 25-06 during deer season and will mount them on my 308Win or 270Win at times.I like bipods when given the shooting situation and time to use them..

I have two bipods that I use.
The first is a Caldwell sitting bipod that I got from Midway. It is not quick to deploy but for it's intended use as part of a varminting rig on my Remington 700 VLS 22-250
The other is a Harris sitting bipod that I ordered from Cabela's. It is quicker and heavier but works well for my long range big game rig - a Remington 700 Sendero Stainless Fluted in 7 mm Remington Ultra Mag.
I like them both but only for their intended uses.

I like the Harris bipods a lot. Especially the swivel model. I kind of went crazy for a while and ended up with 5 of them. Two benchrest, two prone, and one sitting. I've used the sitting one mostly for yote calling. The prone models get used the least. The bench models get used all the time, at the bench of course.
Last fall I did have time to attach a prone bipod to my M70 for a long shot at a deer and it helped tremendously. Lately I've been practicing offhand shooting more. Even though I like using bipods, I don't want to become dependant on them.

I have one on my goat rifle. A person needs to make sure they sight thier rifle in using the bipod, and not sandbags. If not, you wil get a shift of zero from one to the other

I have two Harris bi-pods but hardly ever use them, I use the Stoney Point Polecat the most often. The one for prone or sitting.

I have a bipod on every one of my long range rifles when I go out into the field. Only time I do not use a Harris bipod is for my treestand rifles or on a stalkign rifle in heavy cover, that would include my big bore rifles.
Good Shooting!!

The reason i don't use the Harris very often, is because when calling for predators , if they come in to the extreme left or right you have to pick up the whole rifle to make adjustments for the shot. With the polecat i just have to swing the rifle around without much movement.

Be leary of the BSquare bipods. They have a spring on each side of the upper leg that lets the rifle move a slight bit right and left for a lean.It is very cumbersome and hard to get used to for me.. For $43.00 plus tax from Academy Sports ,I am not impressed with them. The spring to pull the legs back up after use is very weak too.My opinion, spend the little bit extra and buy Harris. If they`d had Harris in stock the day I bought these BSquare`s ,I`d have gotten them instead.Live and learn though---stay away from BSquare.

Has anyone tried the Snipe Pod? They look like they would better than the Harris.
