So much talk lately about Swiss carbines I had to show my straight pull Swiss.

Top is a G-1911, bottom a K-31. Noye how much longer the action is on the early rifle vs the carbine.

Charley, any tips on the K-31?

Just pick up one at J&G. I can't believe how clean the rife is, it's bore is clean and bright, well every thing but the stock. It looks like it went through WW2 and Korea. No cracks but the butt stock is covered with mars, dents and scratches. Never the less it a beautiful piece of Swiss workmanship.

Tips? K31s are fun shooters. Privi brass, if still available, works great. If you can't find Privi, (Graf's), .284 Wincjester forms into 7.5x55 easily.

I'm sure you've heard the term "like a Swiss watch", and having worked in Switzerland a few times over the years, you can see they are a nation of meticulous people.  (Although the recent influx of "foriegn nationals" has taken them down a few notches on the dirt and crime scale).

My brother-in-law has owned one for years, it's his deer rifle.  A bit on the heavy side, but a very good shooter.

I picked up a K-31 for $110 about five years ago. I saw one at a gun show in Dallas last month for around $250. Its amazing how the Obamanation craze has jacked up gun and ammo prices. Hopefully, for no good reason. Hey, its why we have separation of powers in our nation.

I have yet to shoot the K-31. Its clean as a whistle, and could not have had very many rounds through it. Pulled the butt plate off and there was a guy's name and address on a piece of paper under there. Its a cool piece of history. My buddy got one at the same time and he shoots his regularly. I saw video of him shooting well with it.

Maybe I should get some ammo for it and try it out.

Ah......gun porn!!!

Very nice, and the finishes don't look all that bad either!

The Swiss are a nation of riflemen, like we once were......

They keep their actions and bores spotless.  There was a batch of K31's that came over some years back, that were held up in storage for a long while - they were sadly rusted.  The importer's fault, or the BATFE.......?  They surely were NOT in that condition whenthey left Switzerland!

Privi is available Graf's, I got 200 from them recently as well as Lee's collet die and Redding FLS.

It freaking HOT here in Phoenix but I took her out to the desert and got off 20 rounds. When I necked sized them they didn't chamber well. I could hand feed them by twisting the case but it was tight. It's a tight Swiss watch! (for sale: 7.55 Swiss collet dies.:wink:)Has anyone else experienced this?

I'm going to try Lyman's 311672 mold with 2400 and Trail Boss. But right now it just to hot to fire up the lead pot. Sweat and my lead pot do not mix. Anybody casting for the K31?

Me. I bought a NOE K-31, 180 Grain Boolit mold from them in 3-Cavity. $93 Total. Shot it in K-31 with 20 grains WC-820, 2.936 and it shot 3 high 2-4 slightly right; holding at bottom of BE Circle. Will chrono next time I shoot.
Have used it in 96/11 same length but with 11 Grains 700X; AWESOME accuracy was1.5" at 50 Yards. Bad part- holding bottom of circle and hitting at upper edge of bull. Will post pictures once I learn how on this site.

I have one of those (K31). It is in my cabinet and I have never cleaned the cosmo off it yet.

I got it a few years back after I got my 03 license.

armexman,
Best way to post a photo is with a photo bucket account. Works great.

Be careful of those assumptions - the owner carried it through his basic, kept it at his home, and, at the very least, qualified every year with it.  He was also trained to take care of it.
