Hey guys,
I need a little advice on what barrel profile might be the better pic for my AR carbine. I can get a Bushmaster HBAR 16" or a M4 profile 16". The only difference is the M4 profile will probably be a pound lighter. Do you think the HBAR would be better to have since the barrel will not heat as fast as the M4 profile? Or does this not matter in an AR? Also does anyone have any experience with Bushmaster.. Are they good to go?

barrels are like most things each have a different thing they are better at.
all heavier barrels stay cool longer, just more to get hot.
as for Bushmaster, they are a great company, they actually make components for a lot of other companys.
you need to ask yourself what you want to do with your AR then pick the barrel you want that does it best!
and don't forget about rilfe twist, this will make a big difference in accuracy pending what bullet you want to shoot!

Depends on what you want to use it for. If you want a light, quick pointing rifle for work inside 200 meters, a real carbine, go for the M4 profile. The barrel on my military issue M4 hold up just fine, even to short runs of full auto fire. On the other hand, if you are concerned about group size during long strings of fire, then you might consider the heavier barrel. But at only 16" it doesn't make as much sense to me, a heavy 20" barrel would be more suited for precision.
I have heard many good things about Bushmaster ARs.

Without looking it up I check on the barrel twist rate, it may make a difference on what bullet weights you want to shoot. I guess it would matter more if you already had a supply of loaded ammo or reloading components.

Yeah this would be pretty much an iron sight set up for usage under 200yrds. I already have a 20" heavy barreled AR for longer set up.
