I have a Remington 300 SAUM model 700, which im thinking very seriously about taking apart. I want to save the action, and maybe rechamber to a different cartridge. If it were you, what caliber would you choose? I have been thinking of  a .277 caliber or maybe 284.  Im not  looking for a specific caliber to game match because i am fortunate enough to have enough rifles and calibers to hunt anything from moose to prairie dogs.

How about rebarreling it to a 260 Rem?

Hello thar Varmint hunter, here in the past couple of years I have grown rather fond of the 338 caliber rifles as I started out with a 338-06 and then I got a 338 federal and then a buddy came draggin over this ol Ruger 77 in 338 winchester magnum he wanted to trade and now Ive been doin some reading on this new kidd on the block called the 338 RCM in which it sounds like it almost walks with the 338 WM in performance but I believe its a lil compact rifle in a short action and if it were me thats what Id probably opt out 4..................

I hadnt thought of a 338, but it sounds interesting. A friend of mine has a 338 Ruger model 77 and i have shot it many times (at targets), and i like it. I just might get really serious about it.

How about, 358 SAUM or 375 SAUM either would be a real  thumpers.   Why do a factory round like a 338 RCM?  Or you could go the other way and do a 6.5mm SAUM or 257 SAUM.

Neck it down to 17-300SAUM. Now that would be interesting for about 10 shots.

i spoke to a gunsmith about the possibility of the .25/.300 RSAUM and figured it would rival right with the .257 wby with a majority of the bullet weights. may be one to consider

I thought of a 25 caliber conversion, but I already have two  257 Wbys. Kind of leaning towards a 270/300RSAUM......maybe
