Tried out the .270 featherweight yesterday. It is probably finished, beacuse it showed promise, but I might still have to takea little matieral from the barrel channel.

It did not like the RL-22 loads but the h-4831 load gave an avrage of .81, for 5 3 shot groups. I am going to try several more loads with 130 grain bullets and 60 grains of H-4831, and a couple loads with 140s, the Hornady Boat tail and the sierra 140 grain HP GK. I  really want to get the tripple shock barnes to shoot, and I will keep trying , but with the RL-22 it was not promising at all . 2 inches and no 2 shots were at all close together...tj3006

My 270 loves Rel 22 but all rifles are different. My other 270 shoot its best with  55 or 56 gr of IMR 4350 and the 130 gr Hornady, most groups at 100 yards are under a inch with 3 shots touching if i do my part but it is hard to shoot benchrest groups with a nine power hunting scope. This same rifle likes the Speers 150 gr FB Hot Core with IMR 4350 and groups the just under a inch. You might want to try IMR 4350 or Rel 19 which has a burning rate close to 4350. The 150 gr Speer is the best deer killing load i have put in a 270. Good luck on your rifle.

Sounds promising so far. H4831 has always been my favorite .270 powder. I shoot 130gr partitions. I might play with the tsx's but won't be disapointed if they don't shoot, the partition has done everything I've ever asked of it, including elk.

I have a box sitting on the shelf but haven't played with them yet. I played around with the blue barnes bullets and the only load that worked, and it was on a whim, purely goofing around, was with Re25, and as much as I could fit in the case without the powder pushing out the bullet. It was very accurate but real slow.

I tried the 130 grain tripple shock in my .270 this weekend. 5 went into 2 iches.  I loaded  5 more with H4831 sc. (the first load was RL-22), I have had good luck with the100 grain t-shock, in my .257 roberts, and the 140 grain in my 7x57 mauser.

I want to try the 160s in my 7 mag. the 175s in my stw, and the210 in my .338.

Hey TJ.Sounds good so far.I have always had good luck with AA3100 with both the Sierra and Speer 130 gr SP, the 135 gr Sierra mk, and the 140 gr Sierra gk.I shot some of the 135 mk purely out of curiosity in my Remington. With the 130`s the Speer bullet and the Sierra SP shine accuracy wise.I think AA3100 is pretty close to IMR 4831 on the burn rate chart?

Keep us posted.I`m watching for infO on the triple shocks...
