Hi All,

A friend of mine was in a conversation the other day with a fellow who said he had a Savage model 99 chambered in 353.

My friend questioned him wondering if perhaps he meant 358. He said no that it was a 353.

My question is 2 fold. Does a 353 exist and if so was the model 99 ever chambered in it?

Thanks and have a good one, Guy

No 353 that I know of. The 99s were chambered in the following calibers:

303 Savage, .30-30 WCF, .300 Savage, .250 Savage (also called the .250-3000, as the first commercial round to produce a velocity of over 3000 fps), .22 Hi Power, .22-250 Remington, .243 Winchester, .308 Winchester, .358 Winchester, 7mm-08 Remington, .284 Winchester, 38-55 WCF, and .32 Winchester Special among others.

i cant say no ....nor can i say yes..... also cant find it on google or in my c.o.w. umm with that thought .....unless one can produce the rifle they cant prove it either( he said she said etc) IMHO it was a mis-stamp the 8 didnt get quite deep enough or it was wore off either by use or a re-blue and looks like a 3

how ever they did produce a .303 but it is another .30 cal rifle now obsolete

some folks will also argue with a person that they arent standing in a pasture patty when if they but looked down they would see that they were...ummm just my ramblings but a few web searches ( as well as paper searches returned zilch )in the old days how ever factory customs could be had but for the price [shrugz] proof's in the pudding show me the round or the gun

Rockydog,
I did all that you just said and came to the same conclusion, but thought maybe someone here knew of it.
Thanks for the input. Have a good one, Guy
