I was sizing some 44 mag cases to load for my Smith 629, using new Winchester brass and the carbide insert pulled out of the sizing die. I purchased this die in 1973 or 74 in the four dies set and have loaded thousands of 44 ammo with them. I call RCBS  and they said to return the die and they will replace it with a new one. RCBS is one company that stands behind their products.

Well all I can say is DAMN, I didn't think it would pull out like that .

RCBS is good about replacing dies that aren't working .

That's something I haven't seen either.   Must have been quite a surprise when it came out.

Good for RCBS.  You'll be finishing those 44s in no time.

RCBS is tops for customer service. A few years ago, I sent in a beat up, well used and abused RS3 press (It was a hand-me-down, used a great deal before I ever started loading on it) to them for a rebuild. Nothing wrong with their product other than I had loaded ALOT of belted mags on the press, and it was getting sloppy. I sent it to them, and in 1 week, I had a brand new RS5 on my porch. Invoice with it said "No Charge". They didn't have to replace it, but they did. And because of that kind of service, the majority of the equipment on my bench is RCBS green.

Just flat "wore" it out. My dad used the press for years before I got it, and it was used to load a lot of 7mm Mag numerous other rifle cartridges. It started to get some slop, side to side play in the handle and a small amount where the ram went into the frame. It still had many years more use, I'm sure, but I figured, what the heck, I'll send it in for a rebuild, like Dillon does. Instead of a rebuild, they just sent a brand new one!

I concur. I have an RCBS Jr press from 1981 that was given to me, and a bunch of RCBS equipment too. RCBS has been nothing but outstanding, sending parts, springs, etc, with no charge, no delay, and no complaint. When I asked one service lady why they were doing this, she said, "Sir, because it says RCBS on the side. " I said, "My next press will ALSO say RCBS!" She said, "That's why."

Had this happen once about 35 years ago.  It was Lyman die I think.  But the die was getting pretty rough and was leaving streaks of brass in it which I had to polish out from time to time.

Yes, it was carbide but I had not discovered tumbling brass at the time.

I am not sure, but I have heard that Lee will do the same thing. Does anyone know if this is true?

Yes, I had a 9mm FCD that wasn't perfect, and they sent me a new one. Lee also has excellent customer service.

My only wish from RCBS is they would bring back their "Big Max" A-2 Reloading Press. That thing was massive and had the "sideways O" so you had really good shellholder access.   Bill T.

I'm not as good as I once was, but I'm as good once as I ever was.

I know it well. Me too. Too many scars and bullet holes to be as good as I once was.

Dang Recon I thought the idea was to avoid bullet holes and to pass them out.
