I just ordered 15k of bullets, 25k primers, and am about to order 20 lbs of powder.

I'm SURE you guys can beat it, I'm just trying to get a barometer reading of the audience.

Nope, you won.

I talked to an old Army buddy at a reunion a couple weeks ago and one comment I made was about barrel life.  He said that his ambition in life was to shoot out a barrel.  I am not completely sure of his meaning, but suspected that he thought it was difficult to do.  A few minutes later he mentioned that he owned a 308 and a 30'06.  And, he uses them on prairie dogs, 700 rounds a day., said barrel errosion was less of a risk than wind deflection.

I didn't know where to begin.

You sound like a "varminter", for sure?  I am not.  Your order would last me more than ten years.

Good hunting.  LB

Hey caz..You have me whipped for sure. The largest bullet orders I make are usually in the range of 500 bullets and that is mostly for the .224 bullets I use.I use a lot of expensive brand  bullets in my big game rifles and it would quickly clean out my reloading fund if I bought in as high of quantity as you..Even the Nosler Ballistic tips and Hornady VMax for my 223 Rem and my 223 AI are fairly expensive..Powder ,I usually buy a few pounds at a time for most of my loading with the exception of Varget which I will buy in bulk..
Sounds like you have some serious hours of reloading ahead...

Wow.  That's a whoppin' order.    Most of the time I buy the 250 count boxes of bullets for 223.  Maybe two boxes at a time.   Larger calibers I just buy a 100 count box from time to time.   Primers in boxes of 1,000.   Powder....still just one pound at a time.

i generally buy 8 pounds of powder at a time, 1000 bullets, and 5000 primers at a time. my biggest single order was 16 pounds of powder, and 5,000 bullets.

but, your order makes what my wife calls 'the ammo dump' appear very insignificant.

I ordered 48 pounds of powder from Jeff Bartlett over at,

http://www.gibrass.com

He is very prompt and good to deal with. If you buy 48 pounds, (6, 8pound jugs, he pays the Haz-Mat fee. I like his WC-872 Ball Powder for my large magnum rifles. It's very clean burning and accurate.   billt.

Got me beat , though I am slowly building my stocks back up , have a source where I have bought at present about 1000 270 RN's for the 375 , at less than half price , has at least that much more .. Look for deals on ebay , got quite a bit for less than retail , including shipping .. Even found a box of 100ct 300 grain Barnes solids ( long before Randy Brooks moved in ) for a steal ..

Bartlett is a good guy , buy from him ever so often .. Can't beat $7 apound on a kegger ..

Jack

I hope to someday be able to afford to buy a barrel of brass or bullets.

A 5 gallon bucket of brass in each caliber more than serves my needs.

I pack-ratted my Sheriff Dept.'s range for so many years when I was a range instructor that brass hasn't been needed.
I've got (litterally) a garbage can full of military LC87 brass, tons of 9mm, 40 S&W, .38 Special and .45ACP,  that it isn't even funny.

Bullets......hmmmm......the most I think I ever bought at one time was a 1000.
I cast so many handgun bullets that I rarley used them.....cept' for maybe the .357 Max now & then.

Primers get bought by the thousand..........5000 to 10,000 at a time when  I get to my supplier up in Rochester.

I've got well over the legal limit of "storable" powders. If my house ever caught fire, I'd just run............ :eek2:

Take care,
Bob

tricky,

I buy from Beikirch's. They're located off of 490West, outside the city of Rochester. If you're heading west down the thruway, get off at 490East (Rochester) exit and look for Linden Ave. It'll be on your right coming in.
I'm usually coming up from the south, so I head up 390 north, to 590, to 490East. They're located at 930 Linden Ave., which on their end also has a route number as well. I think it's something like 438, or similar. One of those things where I can take you there, but trying to explain it........?
Better yet, here's the address and phone number;

Beikirch's Ammunition Corp
930 West Linden Avenue
Eash Rochester, NY 14445-1408
(716) 248-3660

Ask for Dave....tell him Bob (range instructor) from Wyoming Co. Sheriff's Dept. sent you. I used to buy all my range supplies and ammo from them when I was running the range.
Dave will take care of you.......last I was in there, he was selling me two for one on Nolser bullets, and gave me IMR powders for $14 a pound.
They do all their own shipping, owning several semi's, so they pass on their savings to the average guy. They've treated me great over the several years I've been going there, and they sell outright to the regular public as well.
It's well worth the trip if you want to stock up on several things........I never go up there and spend less than $250.....I usually get the divorce threats when I get home from there.......;)

Take care,
Bob

Well, I'm legal at this time as far as storage goes.

But I need at least 500 lbs. more matching headstamp brass of many umpteen various calibers.

I only load for 3 chamberings so 20+ lbs of powder, 300-400 bullets and 1Kplus/minus of primers is about all I keep on hand.

I don't need to keep a lot of stuff around since Graffs is about 15 min from the house.

A couple of years after Clinton became president there was a rumor that were going to try to outlaw reloading components. I thought will I buy a lifetime supply. I bought 10,000 224 Sierra 55 HPBT Game Kings & 10,000 155 Grain Palma Match 30 cal bullets. I also bougth 48 pounds of powder. I also ordered 20,000 primers.

The powder lasted about 2 1/2 years and the bullets lasted about 7 years.

I wasn't shooting these bullets exsclusively. I was buying other types all through this time.

I also started Moly coating all my bullets. I bought 4 ounces of Moly and although I have moly coated 45,000 bullets, I am not out of it yet.
