Does anyone have, or use one of these? I'm thinking of getting one so I can place a cannelure on some Speer .50 cal. 325 Gr. bullets that don't have one that are designed for use in the .50 Action Express auto pistol cartridge. I want to load these bullets in my .500 S&W Magnum. If I do so they will need a firm crimp to prevent them from pulling out under recoil. For some reason these bullets can be had very reasonable compared to jacketed bullets from Sierra and Hornady that are designed for the .500 S&W. Most everything associated with that caliber has a premium price on it. I know this tool has been around for years, I just wondered if anyone has experience with it before I run out and spring $60.00 for it. billt

My buddy had one , but i never used it, because i don't like cannelure on rifle bullets and the bullets that really need to be crimped come with it already on them. I wish hornady would leave it off their rifle bullets, like they do on their interbonds. I don't think crimping does anything for accuracy, but some very heavy recoiling rounds and lever guns have to be crimp but super accuracy isn't what you are looking for in these rounds. The bottom line is, i crimp only when i have to.

Hey Guy's , I do use and have a cannelure tool , mine is made by Dave Corbin . The princible will be the same ! I have never had a problem with mine and it has had thousands of rounds runs though it . My experiance has been a bit different than bea , I find that the use of a cannelure in addition with the crimp die by Lee . I am able to obtain or stablize consistant pressure . With rifles that I'm pushing to tighten the groups or to draw the best group possible out of . The combination between the die and the cannelure tool is big help . It also gives me the opportunity to relocate factory cannelures for individual rifle to adjust setting depth ! It should make a difference . Regards - bullet
