Anyone shooting these in their 45 Colts?  I tried some, and they left a ton of lead in the barrel.  Shot a cylinder over the chronograph, 6 averaged 818 fps from my 4 5/8" Blackhawk.  The barrel had been cleaned before shooting with foaming bore cleaner to get the copper out after the last shooting.  I used to shoot Magnus 255 RNFP's, but couldnt find any, so tried the Speers.  I mean, they left so much lead in the barrel, my Foul-Out unit went into overload four times before it came clean.  I didnt think I was pushing them that hard, surprised me.  I shoot the Speer 230 LRN in both my 45 ACP's, and they dont lead much at all.  The Magnus 255's never left lead like this and I was running them at an average of 887 fps.  Just wondering if I got a bad batch or if these things do this for everyone.

Sorry, HD, I haven't had that problem. Don't know what to tell ya. You sure about your velocity?

There is something else going on here to cause this difference. Check your velocity, has the barrel been swabed out with a good solvent before firing, are you doing anything different?

everything else being equal try a slower powder or even black powder ( which still thumps in the 45 colt btw )

Barrel was clean, real clean before I fired the first lot of these.  After about 100 rounds of lead bullets, I will run a cylinder of Speer 260 JHP's thru to help push the lead out.  I then clean with Hoppes #9, clean the bore with foaming copper solvent, then when I cant see anymore copper in the bore, I remove the remaining lead with the Outers Foul Out.

I was just surprised that they left that much lead, I have run the Speer 230 LRN's in 2 different ACP's and they hardly lead at all at roughly the same velocity.  Like I said earlier, the Magnus 255 RNFP's hardly left any lead at all.  Maybe I just got a batch that was too soft.

ALL swaged bullets are soft! Try  cast bullets, and you will probably get better results at that velocity. I find if I try to push swaged bullets much over 750 FPS or so leading is going to happen.

I don't shoot swaged bullets for this reason.

Come prelubed with a dry lube that they say wont burn off.  Found some Magnus 250 RNFP's, finally.  Gonna order those up and once I shoot the rest of the Speers, I am done with them.  The Speers were very accurate, just dont feel like dealing with that much lead when I dont have to with a hard cast bullet.

The 'graph is a fairly new CED, which has never given me any trouble, everything else seems to be running where it should, so the lead these Speers left was a surprise.
