Is it a good idea to use hardcast lead bullets in a semi auto .40, its a heck of a lot cheaper for plinking ammo? are there feeding problems, excesseive leading in the barrel,etc...? never tried hardcast bullets, so pretty uninformed. thanks guys..

I shoot cast bullets in my 45 ACP and 9MM's all the time. Just follow recommended loading data for cast bullets, make sure the bullets are seated to the proper place on the bullet and that you use the proper crimp, which on these is a taper crimp, done in a seperate operation from the bullet seating. Also, make sure that you don't exceed the recommended velocity for the bullets that you have chosen, load a few and try them out for fit, function and signs of pressure, and also check for leading in your bore and clean accordingly.

.40 S&W is one I don't load for, but my .45 ACPs, .38 Supers, and 9x19 shoot 20 cast bullets for every jacketed bullet that goes downbore.
