CAPBUSTER is correct.  The Redding Profile Crimp die works great.  My S&W shoots a 158gr or 155gr LRFP real well with 3.3 grains of International Clays.  Winchester 231 was great too with similar bullets.

this is good advice... hbwcs are target only bullets so load em light with a fast powder..........

Back in the late 60's and early 70's i did a lot of ppc shooting. My partners S&W 19 developed the same forcing cone crack, and had never had a load hotter than a target wadcutter shot in it. We estimated at the time that there had been about 25,000 rounds shot through this revolver in a 5 year period. Thats 500 boxes of ammo. A lot of shooting for the average handgun owner, but not much for a competitive shooter or an avid handgunner.

I'm not a heavy handgun user, just for plinking and kicks and only cast bullet's. My favorite bullet's in 38 have been 148gr solid base wadcutter and 150gr Keith type bullet's. I don't see any reason why good 38 spec loads wouldn't work in the 357 case. I think in the 357 case I would put a filler ove the powder though. If I could have any powder I wanted, it would be Bullseye. 2.5 grs in a 38 is exceptionally mild and accurate. My next favorite was Red Dot but it is pretty dirty burning. Like that powder because I have a lot of it but would never use it in an auto of any kind, filthy burning. A powder I had good luck with with the 150gr bullet was 700X. Presently I'm using a 155gr cast HP, Lyman # 359499. Doing well with HS-6 and Super Balistite. Assuming you could find Super B, I interchange Bulls Eye data for it.

I also had some Herco loads but never liked them much.
