I've purchased a Ruger new model Blackhawk in .41 Magnum. I'd sincerely appreciate some load data suggestions for light & medium loads for this round. I'll be loading 215 commercial cast lead semi wadcutters. I'm especially interested in loads using Hodgdon Universal, AA #5, and Unique. At this moment I have Universal and AA #5 in my powder inventory. All help will be appreciated. Thank you.

Ok,... I'll give you a starting hand on this one.
I ran the following load thru my software using the following items for your .41 Mag:
Lyman 215 grain LSWC- GC #410610
12.0 grains AA#5
Chamber Pressure = 31,480 psi (MAX Pressure = 36,000 psi)
Muzzle Velocity = 1,259 fps
Projectile Energy = 774 ft. lbs.
Ballistic Efficiency = 30%
This is a moderate load,.. I've used a 6 inch barrel in these computations. I STRONGLY suggest you do not exceed 12.7 grains of the AA#5 powder in your load as it's somewhat faster than I'd personally use.
My personal powder choice would be with the AA# 9 but the #5 will work fine for you if that's what's already on your shelf. Just back it off a bit and work up to this amount as all guns have different characteristics. Find the powder weight that works best out of YOUR weapon.
Hope this helps you out,..

Kermit,
A very accurate light 215 SWC load I use in my S & W 657 Classic Hunter is 7.8gr Unique over a Winchester Lg pistol primer in WW or RP cases.
Good luck.

I use 8 grs of unique with a large pistol primer , with 210-220 gr cast bullets. You could go up to 10 grs for the "magnum " affect , but would be better off with 18 grs of 2400.
If those commercial cast bullets you have are .410 you're likely to get some leading. .411 work much better in my Ruger bh.

I load 7.5grs. unique, 210 cast bullet. 953 fps. from my 6" Smith. Also load 5 grs. of bullseye and 5 grs. of 231, can't find chrono data, but as i recall it was around 900fps. Same bullet.
