Went back to the range this morning to test some more .41 magnum loads. I'm using Starline brass, CCI large pistol standard primers, 7.2 grains of Hodgdon Universal, and a 215 grain cast LSWC bullet. I'm firing these from a Ruger 6 1/2" New Model Blackhawk. Using my chronograph I got the following results: High velocity 1090, Low velocity 1029, Average 1056, Extreme spread 61, and Standard deviation 18.

These loads seem to be pretty accurate, and are pleasant to shoot. I think this will be my normal load. Should be a good plinking and walking around load. I really like the .41 Magnum!

I'm also a .41 mag fan. I have some universal and will give your load a try. I've normally shot unique for mid-range loads in my .41's but I wouldn't mind finding a cleaner powder.

I've often wanted to try some power pistol in .41 magnum, but there's just no data available. I thought about just forging on ahead using unique data as a starting point, but I really wouldn't want to post about that here.
Maybe someday there will be data available.
