Evening fellas  >>  Saw this little sucker yesterday NIB at a local shop and thought it'd make a sweet little concealed carry piece.  Light.  Small.  Tried and true .45 ACP.  Priced right around $350 it didn't seem to bad so I got it this afternoon.  Work kept me from getting out to shoot it this evening.  Anyone even heard of Bersa?  Some sort of association with other makes of semi-auto that I did recognize from the literature that came with the gun     ...     Llama, Firestorm.  Opinions or experience?  >>  korey

The Bersa is Argentine, Llama is Spanish. No relation, except perhaps the importer.

Thanks for the report, Gene.  And the web site     ...     a site dedicated to Bersa.  LOL.  Would have never guessed that one.  Will go spend some more time over there reading up a bit.  I like the two-tone of your .380 .  Looks sharp.  Now I'm definitely chomping at the bit to shoot this thing.

Charley, I believe you are correct.  The relationship here would be the importer and same warranty work centers.

Evening fellas  >>  Snuck outa work a little early today looking to get some shooting with this Bersa.  Had done some reading over on the Bersa website you posted, Gene.  Was several reports over there that were less then flattering about these Thunder45 semi-auto's, with regards to feed reliability.  Needless to say, I was concerned.  And with each mile driving out to 50's, the concern grew, wondering if I was holding a lemon or a jewel.

We shot the MagTech factory 230 FMC's first.  Something we knew would feed and at the rated 835 fps, easy to shoot getting accustom to the gun.  Turned out to be an extremely accurate load.  We plinked with these for a bit then 50 said he had some full power handloads for his .45 ACP and if mine would feed these reliably, there'd be little problem with most anything else.  First load he got was a pure lead, 225 gr. SWC hollow point.  Upon pressing the slide release to chamber the first round, it hung up.  I manipulated things a bit and got it chambered.  Pulled off that shot and the next 6 with each chambering under the power of the slide flawlessly.  Then tried a load using the 200 gr. Speer HP.  He said these were called the "flying ash tray" loads, refering to the hollow point at the tip of the bullet that looked more like a gapping mouth, then anything else.  LOL.  All seven fed perfectly.  The last load I shot used the bullet that I will most likely stick with once I develop my own handloads for this gun.  It used Remington's 230 gr. Gold Saber.  Muzzle flip was more then with previous loads and I certainly felt it in the web of my hand holding this light gun, but all in all, very manageable.  I was hoping to stick with a 230 gr. bullet once I got to development and it looks like I'll be able to.

I have no concrete accuracy figures to report.  We were simply shooting at a large box at 15 - 20 yds.  For a personal defense weapon though, it'll do fine.  More then fine.  Any bullet from the 6 or 7 7-shot groups 50 and I shot this afternoon would have raised holy hell on someone looking to do us harm.  That's all I can ask of a gun.

I'm happy as can be with this purchase.  >>  korey

If it will feed lead SWCs or Speer's 200 grain JHP, most likely it will feed most anything you can fit in the magazine. The 200 grain JHP has a good profile for feeding, but OAL causes problems in some guns.

If a handgun will feed noting but ball, it will probably feed remington's 185 gr JHP. Profile and length is very close to ball. I have never found a gun it won't function.

I just recently sold my Bersa Thunder .45 UCP and the only reason I sold it was to pick up a Springfield Armory 1911-A1 "Loaded" in OD Green.

The Bersa ate everything I tried to feed it right from the git-go.  DA Trigger pull was smooth with very little stacking, SA trigger pull checked right at 4.2 pounds out of the box.  A bit of take-up in SA, but easy to get used to.  I was able to group under 2" at 25 yards using my IDPA handloads - 3.9gr Hodgdon "Clays" under a Precision Bullets 230 gr Moly coated lead rn flat point bullet.  I ran all sorts of factory stuff through it, and in over 2500 rounds through it, only had one failure to feed.  That was my fault - I deliberately "limp wristed" it just to see how it would react, and it ejected the empty, but didn't get the slide back far enough to grab the next round off the mag.

It was a little fat in the grips for my pudgy, short fingered hand, but right out of the box, it was bang-on point of aim at 20 yards with 230gr hardball.  Grouped right at 2" @ 20 yards with WalMart Winchester white box ammo, and I figured that was pretty doggone good for a .45 that I paid considerably less than $400 for.
