I'm looking at a new Sig Sauer 232, 380 Auto as a every day carry gun.

Light and comfortable in my hand.

I have a 92 Beretta, too heavy to carry.

Yes, I know the 380 is not super powerful. But if I get into a situation where I really need it, I will be shooting at something besides center mass. Hoping to hit a bit higher up, and hoping the noise will draw attention from someone that dials 911.

Any comments on function, durability etc. ?

I've shot the Sigs quite a bit and they're quite accurate but pricey.  I think you ought to consider a Kahr Nine.  It is a single 9mm and is striker fired.  It has a double action only mechanism.  The gun smooths out nicely at about 100 rds and feels like a single action going off.  After the action smooths out, double taps at 15 yds are a couple of inches, it's that accurate.  You can shop around and find some good deals not like here in Kalifornicate.  Since you're in Florida now, I'm sure you can find an indoor range that has a multitude of guns that you can rent and fire there.  Try the Kahr, you'll like it.  I've got one or two lying around.

It's a SIG, not much more to say. They work. I don't feel unarmed when I carry a .380, either. Most any major manufacturer's premium JHP ammunition is going to put a big hurt on anybody hit with it

I wouldn't want to bet my life on " hoping tto hit higher" and someone else calling 911. They call 911 for dead people  too you know

I agree, the last guy that tried a head shot on me I believe is currently dead.

Not to say the SIG isn't a fine pistol, but the little walther pattern bersa is a fine little gun with a huge following for about half the price.

They are both copies of a walther PPK.

sig p239 in 40 would be my second choice in carry guns. my everyday carry gun is a sig 229 in 40 - but the 239 is a little more svelte and packs easier. other than that, a sig 232 is a sig. it will work. period.
