bea175 do you got them all in .45 cal?
Ever try the bowling pin shoots with em?
The .45 always did pretty good I thought.
I did witness a non-expanding .45 bullet bounce back and hit the shooter on the line in the leg. He was a guest shooter at our club and somehow we didn't check his ammo. He wasn't hurt or even bruised.
It's amazing the pounding the hard maple bowling pins took. Even my Desert Eagle .44 mag with certain factory loads would not penetrate. The .44 mag factory loads that did always penetrate though were Rem 180 grain HP which I heard some prefer deer hunting with?
What's the concept on that long black back strap thing? Two handed hold? Does it snag on stuff?

Nice purchase yup your right we can never have too many 1911/1911a1's!!!!!
I thought i was weird by buying/collecting them. I been thinking of getting a SA double stack(14rd) the only thing is the thicker grip area. I'm afraid of it being so much different to shoot than the skinny normal 45's.
We shot my new Auto-Ordnance Army WW2 copy lastweek and she is shootin fine. My norinco 1911a1 that i did the barrel/slide work on my son and the range master shot two cloverleafs with it at 25yds. I fitted a IAI national match barrel bushing and put in a $59 new barrel from SPG. Now my slide rails are rather loose and i puirchased the swage tools to tighten it up just a tad. But i'm not sure wether to touch it or not because she is shoot'n cloverleafs most of the time when i focus on accuracy.
When you get a 1911/1911/a1 in 45acp that cycles and functions properly all i can say is what a pistol it is, they are awesome!!! I'm mainly a wheel guy too......

I looked at the Para O yesterday and it just didn't feel like a 1911 , grip just to wide. I didn't like it. One more thing , the Smith came with 2 Wilson 8 round mag's and I have never tried pin shooting.

Five bowling pins, 21' away and you have 15 seconds to knock them down.
Sounds easy but unless your a fair shot with a pistol...

I've got big hands. Standard 1911 is ok, but the doublestack Paras really feel good to me. Different people, different tastes.

I wasn't trying to imply the Para wasn't a good pistol. It just didn't feel comfortable in my hand like the standard 1911 does. The wide grip just takes away the real pleasure i get from holding a well balanced 1911 . A lot of people like the Para and it may serve as a better combat weapon than the single stack version , since you have have twice as much ammo at your disposal without having to carry a extra mag. I just like the standard 1911 and the way it feels in my hand , just a personal thing.

Bea, I think you made an excellent purchase.
You may or may not remember I bought the exact same model about a year and a half ago. It's been completely reliable and a heck of a lot of fun to shoot.

I can't really remember your purchase but glad you reminded me and good to hear you are happy with your purchase. I will be replacing the safety with the Ambidextrous type since i am left handed.

Surely not slamming single stack 1911s. I prefer them over most more modern designs, including SIGs and H&Ks. I just find the double stack fits my hand better, and pointing is more instinctive, almost like pointing my finger. The single stacks don't quite feel that way in my hands. I only have two 1911s, though, unless you count two frames to build on, when I get the time!
