I store my handguns in my safe in pistol cases, and leave them slightly unzipped for air circulation. I like these Hunter Suede Leather Cases because they are very well made and come in most any size for the smallest of pocket pistols, on up to one big enough for my 10" .45-70 BFR. They are also very heavily padded with foam. Melanie was at the craft store and brought home these nice leather tags and a stamping kit to emboss them. It worked out really well for identifying them. She wets the leather slightly, then stamps the gun and caliber on them. After it dries, (about 5 minutes in this Arizona Summer heat), she coats them liberally with Neatsfoot oil which gives the leather a nice rich looking tone, and softens it as well. The result is as you can see. She labeled all of my handgun cases along with several of my rifle cases as well and now I can find the gun I want at a glance. A couple of guys at my gun club wanted to know where I got them, so I thought I'd post it here. The tags come in a lot of different shapes, plain, arrowhead, and a bunch of others and aren't expensive at all. Bill T.

Sounds interesting, can you post a pic?? I vaguely know what you are talking about, but I'm not a rancher mind you. Bill T.

She wanted me to be sure to mention she stamped the Marlin 39A tag. I stamped the other 2 after a couple of Bud Lights. The difference is apparent. Since this photo was taken my 2 went into the trash in favor of her "expertise". I've never been one to argue with success. Bill T.

Very slick billt ! My gun case isn't big enough to put them in cases though but I like your idea.

Cattle ear tags are avialbale at co-op or most farm stores or feed stores. They are used to mark identity on cattle . You can get them blank and with sequental numbers on them, and in different colors. They usually come in bags of 20-25.
I use them to write my name, addres and tel no. on. Then I attach them to the halters of my mules, should they get lose and leave the country while I am hunting
