I have a Colt 1991 officers model- bought it 15 years ago...kicks like a mule...Ive been thinking about sending it to Wilson Combat to have them customize, any suggestions or comments. I dont want aracegun, I want the best Colt 45 i can get, and I tyhink its cheaper than buying the gun NEW fron Wilson!!!!

You may want to consider a Kimber 1911. I still have an Eclipse but I have owned a few others. They are the best factory 1911's I have ever owned.

You will notice more recoil from the shorter barrels, try a 5" barrel from les baer and never look back you will like the baer 1911's

I'm running the same handgun Colt 1991A1.  I have noticed a slight recoil with the +P home defense stuff I have.  But for everyday IPSC/USPSA I learned it doesn't take much to punch a hole in a piece of cardboard, and it only takes about 780fps with a 200gr projectile to knock over steel 'pepper-poppers' at 50 yards(with some authority).

Wilson/Les/others all make fine firearms, but there is nothing wrong with your .45ACP that some tweaking of the load can't fix.  What are you using now(hand loads)?

Scott (tweaking is half the fun) B

Thanks for all the input...as for the Kimber, Les Baer...Im afraid I would never pick my Colt up again if I moved up....as for the +P ..thats all I load for personal defense...I DO NOT handload so Im not set up to make drastic changes to bullet size..IM leaning toward the Wilson as I know I will keep carrying the Colt/Wilson
