I purchased a new Ruger SB with 4 & 5/8 inch barrel in 44 mag. I didn't like the factory front sight so changed it out for a HI-VIZ . The pistol is grouping the 250 gr Keith Cast bullet , 20 gr of 2400 and CCI 300 primer around a inch at 25 yards off sand bags. I wanted the short barrel over the longer one because it is much easier to tote. I will be going Turkey hunting in the morning and will try to take a Gobbler with it and then try to call in a yote and take him with the Blackhawk. The HI-VIZ sight really makes a difference in the woods early and late.

I really like your SS Ruger!I have 2 Blue  Ruger BH's with 4 5/8" barrels:41 mag & 45acp/45lc plus a Lipsey's Special SS Single Six with 22/22mag cylinders & I've installed Hogue rubber grips on all of them for fit & comfort as my hands are rather large and the skinny little wood grips aren't comfortable for shooting. A friend bought a Ruger  BH 45lc with 4 5/8" barrel added Hogue Rubber Grips which he used to kill a cow elk firing  300gr JFN Speer bullets loaded by http://www. buffalobore.com  .

I believe the 45 Colt is one of the better hunting rounds with good handloads as good or better than the 44 mag.

I have a Ruger Single Six in 22 LR/22Mag with a 9 1.2 barrel still in the box. I have shot it twice since I got, hits the target every time.

Nicely done. My Ruger SBH is blued, and 4 5/8" barrled. Haven't shot it yet, though it's going on 2 years since I bought it.

Also have a stainless Vaquero (old model) in .45 Colt, that I like to shoot 300 grain jacketed SP bullets out of now and then at about 1150fps. Usually drives everyone else off the indoor range when it cuts loose - quite a boomer and very accurate. Once fired two, 2-shot 25 yard off hand groups out of it with that bullet, each of which could be covered with a quarter. Touching them off is not the most pleasant experience in the world, but they're manageable.
