I bought a 1858 Army BP pistol, the all steel replica at Cabela on sale. It shoots very well. I use 2 liter pop bottles that I freeze water inside the bottle. I have recovered several round ball that aren't round any more from these targets.

There is one problem I am having, the caps won't stay on the nipples very well. I changed from Rem to Noble and had the same problem. Any one have a solution, am I doing something wrong?

I do use one of those inline capper to put caps on my pistol.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Jerry

I have the ruger old army, love to shoot it.    Are u using # 11 caps?,    I have used all brands and never had that problem.   I could see 1 nipple having a problem, but not all 6.

If it is a Pietta, it's slightly undersized. If you can find them try # 10 caps instead of #11s. Otherwise, you will need to pinch them on.

Jerry, I've had one of these for years mine is an Italian made repro and the caps always fall off. You learn to pinch them so the mouth of the cap is almost oval. They should take a little force to get on and they'll stay right where they belong. In all the timeI had it I only found one brand that stayed on without pinching but I'll be damned if I can tell you what it was now. Old age creeping up I guess.  RD

It is a Pietta, so I will just have to find some #10 caps and keep the #11 for my Gray Hawk. I may buy the nipple wrench and a 6 pack of new nipples and change them out, but that is down the road.

Thanks,

Jerry

I have three Pietta .44 C&B revolvers - I have to 'pinch' the caps on all of them.
