I have had three brand new 1911's that weren't worth the metal they were made from. I was about to just give up on owning a good functioning 1911 when i found a used chinese norinco 1911a1. This one taught me what all the 1911 hype is all about. Soon after I went out and purchased a brand new Auto Ordnance Army WW2 copy 1911a1 for just $389. Its been flawless for over 500+rds now. The three of us have been hammering it on every outing. It hasn't jammed or stove piped not once yet. Its as dependable and reliabile as my norinco is. This taught me you don't need to spend big bucks to get a decent new 1911.
Now I want to add a 1911 in Nickel and one in stainless to my collection. I know i'll have to break my piggy bank for these two. For a stainless its the Kimber or the Thompson. I'm not sure of the nickel one yet.
The first thing i do to all my 1911's is polsih the feed ramp right away. I remove all the bluing and make it nice and shiney so it will feed anything I run thru it. I did notice the bluing and nickel finish on the feed ramp will stop or slow down any hollow point bullets. Once the finish is removed they seem to feed ok.
